Greetings!
With the closing of summer, many of us in this industry begin our fall and new year planning. This has also been a summer where some of our industry's best have left us. Mark Craighead, Jerry Ahern and Mike Walker's recent passing should remind us that our summer too will pass. I am saddened by these loses as these individuals were friends and colleagues. But I am also pleased to see that the young people coming into our industry are just as passionate as these gentlemen were about their careers. I am also pleased to see so many young people that are second or third generation enter this industry. No, it's not easy, yes it's hard to make a million bucks, but it sure feels good to know that what you love is also your job. So, as we head into the upcoming show season there will be faces we will certainly miss, but please be sure to shake those young hands of our future leaders in this industry.

American Gunsmithing Institute Announces Important Upgrade to the Law Enforcement Armorer's Course (LEAC)

 American Gunsmithing Institute introduces a brand new Law Enforcement Armorer's Course (LEAC) on the H&K MP-5 Submachine-Gun hosted by Deputy Sheriff and Law Enforcement Armorer Mark Foster. Foster, an H&K factory certified armorer, has also studied under Master Gunsmith Bob Dunlap.
In this course, Foster takes you step-by-step through the entire disassembly and reassembly process of the H&K MP-5, down to the last part (not just field stripping). He demonstrates to the viewer every step with incredible close-up views, and explains the firearm's complete design and function, including Full Auto, Semi-Auto and Burst Fire Modes. Foster also covers inspection and repair of worn parts and how to determine if they are within factory specification. In addition, he shows the viewer proper maintenance and lubrication points, parts identification, spare parts required, along with overall operation and service of the MP-5, A2 & A3, H&K 94 (semi-auto) and the MP-5K with side folding stock. This course is applicable to all models.

Instead, the team at Heizer tested and tested and made refinements along the way. Although, you may think any refinements in this revolutionary pistol would be overkill, Heizer isn't in the business to make disposable pistols. The DoubleTap may be small, but it will be mighty! Take for instance the patent pending double-action trigger system. Initially, one of the revolutionary features of this system was the ball bearing component, producing a smooth, and I mean smooth, trigger pull. MasterPiece Arms has announced a new addition to the MPA sound suppressor line. The new Grim Reaper is a .22 suppressor in a K-baffle design with six baffles made from 7075 aircraft grade aluminum. The super-tight tolerances are held throughout the manufacturing process with respect to Total Indicated Runout (TIR) and concentricity of the outer tube to the front and rear cap and the K-baffles ensure a no point-of-impact shift. The front and rear caps, plus the outer tube are hard coated anodized with the addition of the same hydrographic as seen on the MPA930T-GR pistol. The Grim Reaper Suppressor weighs just 3.1 ounces and is 5.625 inches in length and 1 inch in diameter. MSRP is $299.99

The NavELite Compass Smartphone App Approved For Use by Apple

 NavELite has unveiled a new NavELite Compass smartphone application available for the iPhone, iPod and iPad. Inspired by the NavELite Wrist-Worn, Backlit Magnetic Compass, the NavELite Compass app provides basic compass functionality using the iPhone's magnetometer. There are two lighting modes showing a daylight (white) face and needle and an "illuminated" (blue-green) face and needle that simulates the electroluminescent technology. The magnetic heading is displayed and the compass dial can be rotated to orient the iPhone to the direction of travel.

Freedom Network Now Live!

The veteran, gun rights activist and pastor known as the Black Man With A Gun has just created a new social media site for pro-gun bloggers, podcasters and their fans called Freedoms' Network.
The site is like a mini-facebook that allows members to post pictures, and interact with each other without the fear of a change of anti-gun policy. It also allows podcasters and bloggers that may not have their own forums to create their own fan base, collaborate, and cross pollinate.
Rev. Kenn Blanchard has been podcasting since 2007 on The Urban Shooter and had a web presence since 1999. Blanchard also created the Blanchard Media Group (BMG) to take what he has learned to help foster better communication to all that want it. Through BMG, Blanchard hopes to provide members of the firearms community with new media services that include graphic design, voice overs, video marketing, and public speaking. He also plans to grow the Freedoms Network, his blog, and his podcast along the way.
Blanchard has also recently auditioned for a host position in Hollywood and hopes to get into television.
