Greetings!
Around dinner time on Friday, August 26th, Irene's entourage came calling here in Eastern North Carolina. Steady rain and light winds turned more serious near bedtime, which in fact was delayed due to fear of the unknown, such as flying trees, rising water and a really good movie. Saturday was the deluge and at approximately 9:45 a.m. our electricity was cut off. We were as ready as we could be and hunkered down. As the eye passed right up our exhaust pipe here in New Bern, the winds increased with 74 mph wind bursts. The pouring rain continued well into Saturday night. But what the heck, with our neighbors over for a pasta dinner (we have a gas stove) we had our own version of a Hurricane Party. Sunday started off with clear blue skies and beautiful weather. The damage for us was not significant, although the water rose over our docks and crept up our back yard to just a few feet of being in our garage where we had stuffed everything from our porch, deck and dock. But those majestic Carolina Pines had caused problems up and down our area, falling on houses and cars. Many people are still digging out in our area and I am thankful that we came through this with flying colors. Yes, this was our first significant hurricane, but no, it doesn't change my mind - I still love North Carolina.

Take Some Weight Off That Trigger Pull with BP2000 Powder™
|
My first experience with Sentry Solutions products came in the early 1990's when Frank and Mark came to Sigarms to demonstrate their products. We decided to test the lubricity of their Smooth Kote™ and their BP2000 Powder™ in comparison to conventional lubricants used in everyday combat pistols. We selected a P220 that had been shot with several thousand rounds and was fully broken in and lubricated with petroleum based liquid lubricants. Our primary focus was to see if Sentry products gave any advantage to lightening the trigger pull in both double-action and single-action.
We weighed the trigger pulls in both double and single-action with the conventional lubricant and took an average of several different measurements. Next, we detail stripped the gun and removed all lubricant and firing residue down to the bare metal. We then reassembled the gun and repeated the test. Needless to say, the average weights were greater than when the gun was lubricated.
Next, we detail disassembled the gun and cleaned it again, just in case any contaminants had come in contact with the parts. Once this was done, we treated the P220 with Smooth Kote and BP2000 Powder. After a brief curing period we reassembled the gun and measured the double-action and single-action trigger pull weights.
I was astounded to find that both pull weights averaged a full 20% reduction over the conventionally lubricated gun! That P220 never saw anything other than Sentry products after that. Even though it was a blued gun, a wipe down with a Tuf-Cloth after each use kept it from rusting even under the most adverse conditions.

MasterPiece Arms Defender Carbines Now California Compliant
|
MasterPiece Arms announces the Defender Carbine Models MPA1SST, MPA20SST and MPA9300SST now meet and exceed the State of California's requirements on the sale and ownership of semi-automatic center-fire rifles. California restricts the sale and possession of semi-automatic center fire rifles with the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and other specified features. California regulations, however, exclude magazines that require the use of a tool to be removed from being deemed "detachable magazines." Our new CA line of MPA Defender Carbines meets and exceeds these requirements by developing our magazine lock design thereby rendering the magazine "non-detachable" under California law.

LaserLyte® Mini Bayo - A Review from Gear and Gadgets for Everyday Carry...
|
Excerpt taken from "Stick 'em Posey! Stick'em!!"... from Gear and Gadgets for Everyday Carry...
As combat evolved from sticks and stones to cannon and rifles someone got the bright idea to put a long, removable blade on the end of your long gun to make it a glorified spear! Not only did it prove useful in close quarter combat, but there is an intimidation factor that cannot be ignored by even the most belligerent of persons. Anytime you see a rifle with a bayonet attached it screams "Stay Back Hippie!"
Taking this concept to the pistol, LaserLyte® has developed the Pistol Bayonet. Ok, I know what your thinking..."A what?" Yes, a bayonet for your handgun. I know it sounds strange and purists everywhere will be decrying its use. But let me tell you, don't judge a book by its cover!

American Gunsmithing Institute Presents New DVD on Springfield Armory XD / XDM Pistols
Everything You Want to Know About Maintaining This Reliable Pistol
|
The Reese family rescued the Springfield Armory name and philosophy in 1974 and continue to develop products that are loyal to Springfield's heritage while ensuring the Armory's place in the progression of American firearms. Now, the American Gunsmithing Institute has a new DVD release on the Springfield Armory XD / XDM Pistols.
In this DVD, AGI Instructor Bob Dunlap works his way with the viewer through the new Springfield XD series of Semi-Auto pistols. As usual, Dunlap uses a cut-away gun to explain and demonstrate the design and operation of the gun. He also tells you why it appears that the original designer is a European Gun Guy, not an American engineer, and why in this case, that's good.

Tactical Mic Keeper (TMK) Now Made in America
Increases Presence and Accessibility through Social Media Outreach
| |
Webster Innovations, LLC. today announced it has moved production of its product, the Tactical Mic Keeper (TMK), from overseas to Scottsdale, AZ. Veteran Law Enforcement Officer, Brian Webster, invented the TMK in 2007 as a reliable and professional solution for the microphone retention problems that officers face when in pursuit of a suspect. With production moved to the US, the TMK is now made from a stronger, more flexible polymer. To learn more about the recent move, watch the Video Announcement.
The TMK was invented to solve the problem of how to safely and professionally attach a portable microphone to an officer's uniform so that it does not fall off. It can be worn on the front of the uniform or under the shoulder strap (epaulette). Once in place, the TMK becomes invisible as it is hidden by the microphone. The TMK keeps a microphone safely in place and keeps an officer's uniform professional in appearance as it attaches by way of the uniform button, not the uniform itself. The TMK is compatible with almost all remote microphones, including Motorola, Kenwood, Harris, Vid Mic and Freelync. It is ideal for use by police officers, EMTs, fire fighters, correction officers, TSA employees and border patrol.
Tactical Mic Keeper Increases Presence and Accessibility through Social Media Networks
TMK has also launched an official Facebook Page and Twitter account in an effort to directly communicate with its core audience - the first responder. The goal of the networks are to create a place where fans and followers can interact directly with the company and other enthusiasts, where they can discuss and review the TMK and learn about new product developments.
