Greetings!
With everyone on the rampage to get ready for the upcoming NRA show I'll keep this brief. At LBM we have seen an incredible increase in gun related websites, blogs and Facebook pages. For manufacturers, it is becoming increasingly difficult to wrap their arms around all of this, stay on top of known writers and not miss a viable opportunity for press. Believe me, I feel for them. I also feel for the many newcomers to our industry that are working hard to establish themselves as bloggers and site editors.
For us, a PR agency, it is important that we keep attracting the writers we have been working with for years and also the newest ones. Our Facebook page is a critical piece of the PR pie in that we can instantaneously broadcast information about new products or services. We also serve many fans of our clients through the same page.
With so many other pages demanding attention, we need to keep our heads above the herd. For those of you that are currently using Facebook as a means of communicating or finding the latest info on guns and gear, we'd like you to take a minute and fill out a survey to help us as we look at new ways to make our Facebook page and our clients' pages more exciting for you the writer and end user.

GirlsGuidetoGuns.com Interviews LBM's Very Own Laura Burgess |
Natalie Foster of GirlsGuidetoGuns.com recently sat down with LBM's very own Laura Burgess. Here is an excerpt of the recent interview:
Natalie Foster: Where do you see the industry headed for women?
Laura Burgess: When I started in the 90s you would probably be pretty hard pressed to find any female CEOs in the industry. If there were, it was either because their husbands had started the business and had either retired or passed on. There just didn't seem to be any incentive for women to come in and start a business within the industry. It was considered a "good ol' boy" industry even in the time that I started. I think what's changed is that women are coming in and don't want to just be the pretty little girl in the booth, they wanted to actually be responsible for making the deals, selling the product, showing the product, talking about the product, demonstrating the product. I think women have significantly changed how the industry goes to market today. You see this tremendous influx of pink guns. We've worked with a number of companies that have introduced them. They do so not only to identify with women but also to support women's causes such as breast cancer awareness. One of the fastest growing segments of social media is over 55 year-old women. And the reason they're using social media is because it's a great way to reconnect with your high school friends or you can have the grand-kid on the knee and be able to chat with other women and talk about those things. They might say, "I'd like to go shooting. What do I do? Who do I talk to? What would you recommend?" It's a safer atmosphere for them to do that in the confines of their home. And then they're breaking out and they're forming these new groups and they're going on adventures of their own based upon common interests, including shooting. I think that you're gonna see an increase in women shooters. And I think that's important on a couple levels: (1) More women are increasingly the decision makers within a family; and (2) Since the family dynamic has changed so much, often times if there wasn't a dad or an uncle around, a kid might never have the shooting experience. With women taking the lead in this I think it can help the industry as a whole with the next generation. Moms are taking their kids out. There are more mother and daughter types of shooting events and it's all just wonderful to see. I think women could be the future of this industry in many ways.

Sentry Solutions Introduces the Field Grade Gear Care Kit™ in a Compact, Travel Size Tin |
Sentry Solutions has now packaged the Field Grade Gear Care Kit™ in a travel-size tin for in-the-field or on-the-range gear protection.
Sentry Solutions has combined their internationally known Tuf-Cloth™, Tuf-Glide™, a Gatco® Super Micro X sharpener and easy to use lint-free cleaning tools in a pocket-sized tin that will fit in any range bag, backpack, tackle box or glove compartment. The Sentry Solutions products provide a great combination of revolutionary lubrication, protection and sharpening versatility for knives, firearms, and broad heads for a retail price of $23.99.
Tuf-Cloth is the long-lasting, oil-free alternative for oil and silicone rags that prevents rust from forming on any metal surface. The Tuf-Cloth provides a fast-drying, water-displacing micro-bonded barrier against rust, friction and wear by simply wiping the metal surface of knives, tools, or tackle. Unlike silicone products, the Tuf-Cloth does not leave an oily film that attracts dirt.
Tuf-Glide works with the Tuf-Cloth in protecting and lubricating those hard to reach places. Its powerful oil-free rust inhibitor and lubricant are in a quick-drying mineral spirits carrier, which effectively transfers the active lubricants to the micro-pores in any metal surface. After delivering its cleaning action, the carrier evaporates, promoting the bond between the metal and the active ingredients without leaving a sticky residue behind. The dry barrier shield outperforms oil lubricants by more than 14 times in any environment or temperature.
Gatco's Super Micro X Sharpener is the industry's leading compact sharpener for knives, arrows and serrated-edged tools. Two fine and two medium sharpening rods are included, as is a built-in angle guide that makes razor-sharp sharpening quick and easy.
