Greetings!
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show the current unemployment rate at 9.8% for November 2010, just up .2% from October. That's 15.1 million people. Of which 10% were adult men and 8.4% adult women. Layoffs happen for a variety of reasons. Economics is usually the tour de force. Individuals that were looking at retiring in 10 to 15 years or even earlier are now faced with finding some sort of employment long term. But when you find yourself in this predicament, your options are not limited to who is hiring - maybe the one hiring should be you. Yes, I'm a believer that without small business, America wouldn't be surviving this economic doom and gloom. So many of our readers and customers are passionate about their guns and gear; they buy our products and read our magazines, but what happens to them when the paycheck stops? Answers.com says that the FBI estimates there are over 200 million privately owned firearms in the US. Then you have to add those owned by the military, law enforcement and museums. See where I'm going here? Who is taking care of these guns? Who is making sure that old Sauer rifle you inherited from Granddad can still fire safely? Who is changing out your sights on your new 1911? And who is giving you and your firearms the personal care and attention only a qualified gunsmith would? Well, in a day and age in which we have personal trainers, personal shoppers, personal assistants, why not personal gunsmiths? At American Gunsmithing Institute, you can learn how to take your passion of firearms and make a good living. AGI offers a variety of mini-lessons, courses in assault rifles, cowboy action, reloading, building or customizing handguns, rifles and shotguns, armorer's courses and their renowned gunsmithing certification course. I think in these times of pulling back, we need to forward think. Next time you have a shooting or hunting buddy that has lost his job or is thinking of changing careers, help our industry employment figures grow - suggest taking a gunsmith course at AGI where you have control of your future.

LaserLyte® Subcompact V3 Laser - The Smaller, Smarter Laser System |
LaserLyte is now shipping the company's most state-of-the-art, smallest and versatile rail mounted laser to date; the LaserLyte Subcompact V3 laser. Now, half the size of the previous model, the Subcompact V3 needs less than ¾-inch of Picatinny rail space to easily mount onto even the smallest firearms.
Constructed of T6 aluminum for extra strength and durability, this updated unit offers a smart, cost-effective auto-off feature. If left on for five minutes, the unit begins to display a unique flash for one minute, indicating to the user that the unit will automatically shut off soon. After one minute in flash mode the unit shuts itself off to extend battery life, prevent accidental activation and battery depletion. Press the unit's button at any time to reset this feature for five more minutes.
The Subcompact V3 easily mounts with a hex drive crossbar screw and features windage adjustment, elevation adjustment and programmable constant on and pulse modes. Additionally, the unit is ideal for left- and -right handed shooters with two separate activation buttons located on the backside of the laser. Not only will the laser fit nicely on the smallest of sub-compact railed pistols, it works great on modern rifles as well.
The Subcompact V3 laser is powered by four 377 batteries that provide five hours in constant on mode and ten hours in pulse mode of normal usage. Normal usage is defined as one minute on and one minute off. This test mimics actual usage where the unit is turned on and off and the battery is given time to automatically regenerate.
To find out the Subcompact V3 laser specifications, read the recent press release. |
International Training, Inc. Training Evaluated at 97% Effective by Students |

International Training, Inc. is very successfully completing its training and financial year for 2010. The ITI cadre trained almost 3,000 students for deployment overseas or for other high risk missions. Those thousands of students evaluated the training at an overall 97% effectiveness. It has been a very busy year for ITI - the training cadre accompanied students through over 40,000 miles of driver training, coached them through the firing of 1.5 million rounds of ammunition and launched hundreds of mock attacks as part of training simulations. ITI certainly wishes all of its students and clients the best of luck in the coming year and looks forward to seeing them all safely home!! For 2011, ITI is in the planning stages for two new courses of instruction - stay tuned for those of you who have to operate around the clock (read that to mean throughout the night as well) and those who are at risk of being taken hostage and need to know how to get yourself free and ITI isn't talking about how to think about it - it's talking about taking action!! |

Sentry Solutions Wraps Up 2010 - Remains Committed to "Made in the USA" |
2010 was a blur at Sentry Solutions. When the Malaysian Ministry of Defense went public with their intention to issue TUF-CLOTHs and TUF-GLIDE to their troops, production capacities had to be magnified. We accomplished that while staying true to our Made in the USA from American made materials mission. The struggle to keep prices as low as possible while offering performance and value tested us. In response to customer feedback, we will be offering "easier to use" versions of our oil free gun and gear products. Please visit our SHOT Show Booth 1606 after having a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

United Spirit of America (A Product Review)
By CJ Grisham |
A few weeks ago, I received a really cool kit from United Spirit of America. According to the website, they are a "personal care product company specializing in toiletries for military, law enforcement, outdoor and the travel markets. USA-Spirit is a woman and minority-owned company based out of Boynton Beach, Florida. Specializing in convenient, portable products that are made with biodegradable content and superior formulation as the ultimate in personal hygiene; USA-Spirit products bring high-tech innovation to personal cleaning and protection. With a product line specifically designed for military personnel, USA-Spirit has considered every angle, from unique packaging to the environment, in which the products may be used."
I have to tell you that I learned something. Women and minorities really know how to make a guy smell good - even if no one will notice while he's fighting evil in Afghanistan!
The company sent me their Basic Edition Product Line that included a 3×1 Wash (Shampoo + Body Wash + Shaving Lather), Anti-Bacterial Gel, Anti-Bacterial Wipes (15 ct), Anti-Fungal Foot Powder, Basic Edition Deodorant, Sunscreen SPF30+, and a carabineer Clip.
Over the past month, I've eschewed my normal Axe grooming products so that I could get the full effect of these products. Bottom line: I'm impressed.
This is a great product that I think every Soldier would love. All the products came in tubes no larger than 3 oz in a container made of rugged plastic with a secure top to prevent leakage. They do this so that the junk gropers at the Transportation "Security" Administration doesn't confiscate your smelly goods to take home and try them out on their butt buddies (USOA does not condone my use of the word "butt buddies" in conjunction with their product review - I wouldn't think). One of my frustrations when I was deployed was that my deodorant would melt during the summer. It was a pain in the butt! I'm not usually a big fan of roll-on deodorants, but USOA deodorant not only did the job, but left me with a cool, protected feeling. It took a little getting used to the initial feeling of a liquid roll-on, but it worked! But, their nano-shield roll-on deodorant and anti-perspirant provided me with the "all-day deodorant roll-on decreases underarm perspiration and provides odor protection" they advertised.

Propper International™ Introduces A-TACS® ACUs for Spring 2011 |
Propper International™ and Digital Concealment Systems are proud to announce the Spring 2011 launch of the new A-TACS ACU.
A-TACS represents a radical step forward in the science of concealment technology. The patented A-TACS process replaces digital square pixels with small organically shaped pixels, removing all 90-degree angles to create a more natural appearance. Additionally, the organic pixels are segmented into larger groupings organized within the pattern, creating a unique "pattern within a pattern" concept that enables A-TACS to conceal the operator more effectively at greater distances than previously possible. The pattern also features a greater range of inter-mingled natural colors for enhanced concealment. The base color is a neutral tan, designed to blend effortlessly in open, rocky or arid environments.
"Propper is honored to be a part of such a groundbreaking development in military and law enforcement concealment," said John Asaro, VP Marketing for Propper International. "We are dedicated to providing the best possible apparel to the soldiers and officers who serve our country, and our partnership with A-TACS solidifies that effort."
The Propper A-TACS ACU is sewn to military specifications and made from print 65/35 poly/cotton ripstop fabric for maximum durability.
The A-TACS ACU is among the most anticipated A-TACS products launching worldwide and will serve as the core component of the product line, which includes boots from Danner, packs and nylon kit from Tactical Assault Gear, single or dual point gun slings from Blue Force Gear, and weapons and optics systems from Remington, Bushmaster and Bushnell. This broad collection of introductory products represents the first full head-to-toe concealment system offering to tactical professionals in the U.S.
Propper will advance the A-TACS product line with boonie hats and combat shirts. These items will be available for purchase from Propper authorized dealers.
For more information on Propper A-TACS ACUs, contact info@a-tacs.com.
