Greetings!
This summer has proved to be unusually hot in many areas of the country. Whether it is truly Global Warming or just an unusual weather pattern, for many of us, this weather doesn't stop us from doing our jobs. Remember when you are on the range to wear comfortable, breathable, light colored clothing. Remember to hydrate often and don't forget your sunscreen. Some of us will move to indoor, air-conditioned ranges during the dog days of summer, but for many that are in a training course or working as an instructor, indoor ranges are a luxury. So stay out of the heat when you can and remember to get your training fix at the Trainers Command Post. We are always looking for articles and new trainers to promote!

The SIG SAUER Academy Presents a Cowboy Action Shooting Event |

The one-day event will be conducted by the White Mountain Regulators of New Hampshire, a SASS Affiliated Cowboy Action Shootingİ organization. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the fun begins at 9 a.m. Shoot six stages of rifle, pistol and shotgun for only $20.00. The Tactical Field of View |
Any Operator knows that when the signal is given or shots are fired, not only your training kicks in but your adrenalin surges. Everything appears optimized, time melts, you trust your weapons, your team, but how about your eyewear? Confining areas limit view, but your tactical goggles shouldn't. Revision Wolfspider Tactical Goggle System provides a compact, low-profile design with an unrestricted field of view and flawless optics to ensure a clear and accurate vision (remember my last article on the Prism Effect?) for peak performance. These high-impact goggles exceed military ballistic impact requirements for goggles and the dual-material frame technology provides high-impact protection and flexibility for extreme comfort even when worn for long periods of time. The high performance OcuMax coating protects against fogging and scratching and the interchangeable lenses for various light conditions provide 100% UV-A-B-C protection. The Wolfspider Deluxe Kit retails for $179.99 and the Wolfspider Essential Kit for $159.99. |
ISSC-Austria Announces the World's First Twitter Match! |
What is a Twitter match? Actually, it is a 21st century Postal Match. Does that help? No? Well in the old days, (like before the internet), a bunch of shooters would mail out a series of small shooting matches with different challenges called "Stages" to shooters all over the world. Each stage was mapped out on paper. Shooters would get together and construct the stages then shoot them according to the directions enclosed. It wasn't unusual for lone shooters to do this all by themselves, (strictly on the honor system, of course.), then mail in the results. Hence the term postal match. Coming this Fall, ISSC Austria will present such a match with prizes to numerous winners. The difference is that the match will take place everywhere on the same weekend. (Sorry Martians, winners will be limited to Planet Earth, such as it is). Scoring will be transmitted and reported via Facebook and Twitter, hence the term Twitter match. View Stage 2, Over/Under now on YouTube for a brief introduction.

This is an event for rimfire pistols and revolvers only. All events will be shot with a time limit referred to as Fixed Time. Your score will be a total of points according to where each shot lands on the Reckstine Sight-In Target. Reckstine Sight-In, (RSI), Targets are supplied with each ISSC Austria M22 pistol. Non-M22 shooters will be issued a copy of the RSI target upon registration. Visit Facebook and Twitter regularly for more information.
Don't forget to sign up for the ISSC-Austria newsletter to get the latest updates on the Twitter Match and more! |

Blue Sheepdog |
Right now there is some street thug who is preparing himself for an encounter with you. Maybe today he is practicing shooting. Perhaps he's doing push-ups, or running. Yesterday, he figured out a really great spot to hide a small razor knife. If his buddy is with him today, he's probably working on disarming you. He's been working on that one for a while, and has gotten pretty good at it.
I know what he is doing. The question is, what are you doing? When is the last time you went to the range? Hit the weights? Cleaned and oiled your handcuffs? Have you and your partner practiced a building search lately? Or even just talked about how to handle a hot call?
Someone is preparing to meet you. Will you be ready?
Check out more posts by Blue Sheepdog here.

The center red reticle is illuminated for optimal contrast against a dark or light target. The light and compact sight features a non-reflective matte black finish and mounts to a standard weaver rail system. It is weather resistant and is designed to use 1 AA type battery. One-knob operation allows for easy one-handed use. The ATN Night Arrow6-CGT offers superior night vision performance in a rugged weapons sight at an affordable retail price of $1,795.00.
