Greetings!

New BernNever move. That's my advice. Only move if you are young and own nothing more than a backpack and a box of books. Once upon a time, that's how I started out. Now, one 16 foot POD and a 22 foot truck. Eric drove the truck and I drove the car with our aged cat that either howled or left little presents in her box. New York City on 95 was fun; for the hour and a half it took us to get through it! But, all in all, we are now safely tucked in our new house, practically out of boxes and ready to explore North Carolina with all its shooting ranges and fishing charters.  Wonder if there's a way to combine them, and if there is, I might just find it here!

Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide

The partner to Sentry Solution's Tuf-Cloth is Tuf-Glide. Tuf-Glide gets into those hard to reach spots on knives, guns, bicycles, tools, fishing tackle. I especially love the convenient ¼ oz. Pen Applicator. You can literally clip it in your shirt pocket, but it fits great in tackle boxes or your gun cleaning kit. Tuf-Glide works through mineral spirits as the carrying agent for the active ingredients providing the cleaning action. The mineral spirits quickly evaporate and Sentry's proprietary ingredients bond to the surface for long-lasting effectiveness and dirt-free performance. Unlike oil-based products, Tuf-Glide doesn't leave a slippery finish like silicone - so it's dry to the touch and it doesn't attract dirt.  What's really great about Tuf-Glide is that because it is a waterproof protectant, it doesn't wash off, which is extremely important on gear that gets wet whether it's your fishing tackle or knives. No matter the weather, even when the temps dip down to -40° F, your firearms, knives, bikes and gear will continue to perform!

The KodaBow Crossbow: The Highest Level of Innovation and Quality

KodaBow crossbows are an all American made product line right out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  The KodaBow prototype was introduced at the 2010 Shot Show and since then, Chuck Matasic, President of KodaBow, has been busy taking the KodaBow to the highest level of innovation and quality yet available.

What makes these crossbows unique is that while built on a common core platform weighing only 8.3 lbs. the KodaBow has a recurve limb design that delivers energy with a short 13 3/8" power stroke making the crossbow easier to cock. And when fired, you'll be amazed at how quiet it is. All models include the patented CFT™ Trigger (Cam Following Trigger), an integrated SRT™ (Solid Rail Technology) Modular Core which is lightweight, noise reduced and a convenient way to customize and add accessories. All models have our unique limb technology which integrates new applications of physics to store and release energy called Dynamic Flex Energy Storage (DFES™) --- this is our proprietary dual limb configuration.  If you haven't been to their site in a while, check out the new crossbows from KodaBow coming at you very soon!

Carteach0

Carteach0A million years ago (or so it seems), 'ol Carteach was treated to some indoor range time one night. One night... meaning all of one night... from late evening to early bright. A buddy and I kept the steel ringing on the range for about eight hours straight.

What were we doing, besides having a ball? We were practicing low and no light shooting techniques. There was no instructor, no class, and no professionals around. Just us, some gear, and a willingness to learn and experiment.

It would be wonderful if this piece was being written about a defensive class, with professional training, using real life experience. The simple fact is.... Carteach is pretty average amongst shooters, and that means time and money are kind of tight. Low/no light defensive shooting classes are rather pricey, from a poor 'ol teachers viewpoint. The class's generally run around $600, and with travel, lodging, meals, and ammunition tossed in the total quickly exceeds $1000.

Like most average shooters, this poor shlub hasn't got big stacks of extra cash laying around. So what we're gonna do is this.... ya'll watch close now.... we're going to take care of this problem the American way, and just figure it out for ourselves. The Carteach0 blog is all about sharing the fun with friends, and this is no different.... so lets get busy and examine the situation.

Visible Assets Introduces RuBee

I know almost everyone of you readers knows guns back and forth, and can probably take one apart and put it back together in the dark, but when it comes to technology, I bet many of your eyes start glazing over. Well, LBM is working with a company called Visible Assets and they are a technology company. Now, some of you may be wondering how the heck a PR company in the shooting and tac gear industry works with a tech company. Easy.  If you have guns or make guns, lots of guns, wouldn't you want to know where they all are? And maybe who has them? Could also be a bit of a security issue too, especially these days. Yeah, you can hire security guards. Put people through metal detectors. But humans miss things and metal detectors have serious limits, too. The guys at Visible Assets created a technology called RuBee. RuBee is not RFID (what the heck is RFID - you are saying). RuBee allows for real-time, wireless visibility of guns and any other high security or valuable items as they move through a facility, like a gun factory or armory. Guns are tagged and people are tagged (ID's) and as they move through the facility it provides in and out checks of the weapon and the person, as well as keeping a physical inventory of stored weapons without pulling them from the stack and scanning them, and it can even provide critical preventative maintenance information on weapons (more on that later)! So how does RuBee do this? RuBee is not bar-code based and it's not line-of-sight like RFID (think of those miserable scanners at Walmart). RuBee reads in a large 3D volume and its signals are not blocked by water or steel. This means that if you put that pistol in your pocket and "forget" about it, RuBee will remember (RFID remains clueless as to its whereabouts because it wasn't physically scanned). But, perhaps one of the best things that RuBee provides to armories and gun companies is that it can be used around explosives (ammo anyone?) without fear of fireworks and is completely human safe. Now all this tech talk may have you thinking that setting up this sci-fi system at your plant would cost an arm and a leg. Guess again. And if you own the darn plant, you'll see a quick return on investment too and no more Saturdays doing inventory because you can't seem to find serial numbers UVW to XYZ. RuBee knows.
