Greetings!
BLACKHAWK!, always leading the charge into new territories, held a blogger seminar a few weeks ago. This was a big deal, in my opinion, since many company executives are still hesitant to embrace new technologies and especially the drivers of the technologies. And the executives are correct. Bloggers can say whatever they want to, instantly. Bloggers have no editors hanging over their desks. Blogger care less about advertisers and more about their readers. So why any sane company would invite those Internet Cowboys into their company and reveal their very souls is just too much for them to understand. But here is what they are missing. Instant customer gratification. Oh sure, companies can use the Internet and blog themselves, but consumers are very savvy these days and no amount of jargon can cover up "corporate speak." A company that defines itself by developing quality products, providing exceptional customer service and maintaining transparency with the public will find working with bloggers to be an eye opening, insightful experience. They can provide the company with a real "customer's opinion" and powerful feedback from outside our industry walls. And, if you are truly a company that not only prides yourself on great products and services but REALLY provides them, then have no fear, invite them in. A blogger can truly be a company's best friend.

BLACKHAWK! Blogger Seminar Wrap Up |
BLACKHAWK! recently held its first Blogger Seminar and although BLACKHAWK! nor the bloggers knew what to expect, the seminar has been declared a success. For most of the bloggers, this was their first time to get close-up and personal with a company within industry. Todd Jarrett was on hand to give plenty of shooting tips on the Norfolk Police Department range. Nerves were a little high when the bloggers and BLACKHAWK! employees, including several former Navy SEALs, took to the paintball range, but after a couple of rounds of "capture the rag" and multiple paintball "hickies," everyone agreed that the event was not only a great learning experience for both sides but an opportunity for mutual bonding. Since the event, the attendees have been very busy broadcasting their experiences over the Internet. To see what they are saying, visit the following blogs:

Revision Looking to Reach 10,000 Fans by Memorial Day |
Revision Eyewear's Facebook fan base continues to grow with over 9,600 "likes." On average the company welcomes 200 - 300 new fans per week and for every 50 new "recruits," Revision proudly donates one Sawfly U.S. Military Eyewear Kit to deployed troops via AnySoldier.com. To date, Revision has donated over 190 kits of eyepro to soldiers in theatre. The power of Revision's Facebook page isn't just in its number of fans. This space has become a primary means of communication with the company's end-users - mainly young members of the military and tactical communities. From these conversations, Revision hears the stories essential to what they do: "My eyes owe you a great deal of thanks," "thank you for working so hard to keep our vision safe," or "I love your eyepro [it] has saved my life once." Revision's goal is to reach 10,000 fans - that's 200 eyepro donations - by Memorial Day. Help safeguard our troops by becoming a fan at http://www.facebook.com/RevisionEyewear.

Practice with Practical Intent
By Waysun Johnny Tsai |
I recently had the pleasure of having a conversation with a close friend who has been training in the combat arts for roughly 28 years. My "friend" is one of the few martial artists that I know who has never stopped training, ever. Most take time off here and there, not him. My buddy spars heavy contact with his guys several times a week, does kung fu, BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and is one of the best kickers that I have ever met. Over the past couple of years, he has really jumped into his BJJ training and has tapped out several top fighters the area. His ground game is spectacular; to stand and fight him is a mistake. He advised me that he got into a bar brawl a couple of weeks back, took a big guy right down, had him in a rear naked choke when the guy's girlfriend started screaming and proceeded to beat his head with a metal object while he cranked her boyfriend's neck. My friend admitted that he was lucky that the girlfriend was not a couple of the guys that stomped him bad while he was trying to maintain ground control on his "opponent". He also admitted that he could have easily punched the guy out without hitting the ground, I don't doubt it all. But he took him down anyway. I advised this is because of how he is training. If you practice take downs for the ring all day, that is the automatic skill set that will come to surface when the sh*t hits the fan. The same rule applies to eye gauges, joint locks, groin and knee kicks etc...We discussed how that same fight could have ended up fatal for a law enforcement officer. The moral of this story, practice like you mean it, with intent. Ring fighting is sport fighting, practical CQC is practical combat. No Referee will save your butt when it goes too far in the street. Be very real and truthful with yourself when you train. Build gross motor skills for combat. Condition your mindset along with your physical, especially if your job and or your life depend on it. Remember the graveyard is filled with tough guys, so keep it practical and be safe. For more information on Practical Tactical Street Defense DVDS, please visit www.tsaiskungfu.net. NFA Gun Trust Lawyer Blog |
Firearms Dealers Creating Trusts For Customers
Some dealers are currently providing trusts to their customers to avoid the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (the "CLEO") signoff that is required for individual purchasers of Title II Firearms. When a non-lawyer dealer fills out or creates a trust for an individual they are violating their state's unauthorized practice of law ("UPL") statutes. Many dealers and manufactures are providing generic trusts that do not address the unique issues of the NFA and often do not comply with the state requirements for proper execution. In the past, the ATF has accepted many of these invalid trusts and approved the transfer of these firearms. Unfortunately for such individuals, if the trust is invalid, the possession that has been approved did not take place, and the individual or individuals who are in possession or using the items are in violation of the NFA. These dealers are taking a big risk in providing improper trusts to their customers. They are not only violating the state UPL statutes, but can also be liable for violating the NFA, in addition to civil liability for the bad advice which results in the consumers' property loss, civil penalties, and/or criminal prosecution.
Be careful when copying a form or getting a trust from someone who is not a licensed attorney. Many individuals ask why we work exclusively with local licensed attorneys in each state. We do this to maintain the quality of our documents and to make sure that a licensed attorney in your state reviews the documents and makes changes based upon your local state laws.

A Gun Virgin No More | |
When I joined LBM in 2009, I came into the Law Enforcement / Military / Hunting / Sport Shooting markets with no personal gun experience. My knack was for Marketing and PR. I'd worked in many various industries prior - financial, tech for staffing and recruiting, boating and equine - but never guns. Sure, I'd been exposed to it since I was a small child. Laura (my mom and founder of LBM) had been in the gun industry since I was 8 and I had helped her throughout the years assemble press kits for clients, attend SHOT Show, create databases and the like, but it was all second-hand. My parents enjoy shooting sport clays and even participated in their first 3-Gun match last year, but again, I never bothered to pick up a gun.
That all changed last week. I went to Norfolk, VA to help Laura with the first ever BLACKHAWK! Bloggers Seminar. I was going to be the blogger, the tweeter and Facebook poster for the event for BLACKHAWK! and LBM. I went not expecting to pick up a gun, but left that seminar having fired a shotgun and a handgun.
It all started when I was photographing the morning shotgun demonstration. The bloggers were testing out shotguns equipped with KNOXX Stocks. Not expecting to pick up a gun that day, I went dressed in pearls, heels and a dress naturally. Toward the end of the demonstration, Todd Jarrett, 5 time World Champion, who was leading the demonstration that day, called me over.
