Greetings!
We just finished up the SIG SAUER Editor/Writer Seminar held here in Exeter and Epping, New Hampshire. For me personally, this was really a treat. I first became familiar with SIG SAUER in April of 1991 when I was hired as a temp in their warehouse. The facility was brand new and SIG (then SIGARMS) had only occupied it for less than six months. As SIG grew and changed, so did I. Sometimes I feel I grew up there. Having the chance to get back on the Academy Range (and that itself is another story!) and shoot a variety of SIG's, I felt a real coming home. The guns felt good in my hands, especially since SIG is now making different size grips and guns available to us small-handed people. They shot beautifully and I was hitting the targets with no problem (Take note and a bow, Mr. George Harris).
The real treat was having a chance to tour the facility. The place was teaming with activity - organized activity. I was also impressed to see most of the team wearing SIG logo clothing. Everyone was proudly displaying their loyalty to a great company. The dedication and committment we saw was evident from the bottom up.
Now I just have to decide which style of the P238 I MUST buy!

ATN's Night Shadow Night Vision Binocular for Seeing into the Night Distance |
American Technologies Network, Corp. ( ATN), a leader in night vision technology, has built their exclusive " Smart Technology" into their Night Shadow Night Vision binocular line. ATN's Smart Technology includes a proximity sensor that automatically turns the night vision binocular on when it's brought into a viewing position. SIG SAUER Demonstrates How To Make a SIG 516 in a Few Easy Steps |
(NOTE: Please do not attempt to do this at home, or anybody else's home.)
Recipe:
Have all ingredients ready and set the temperature to a raw New England day to about 46 degrees. Add occasional rain.
Step One: Take one well-abused (20,000 rounds in already) demonstration SIG 516 rifle and bury it in sand. Cover well.
SIG 516 Covered in Epping, NH sand |
Step Two: After mixing thoroughly some nice dirt and good old pond water, place rifle in mud. Cover and pat down mud.
SIG 516 Mud Bath |
Step Three: Now to add more liquid. Immerse the SIG 516 in some very still, well aged pond water (preferably freezing cold too) and allow for bubbles to dissipate.
SIG 516 Water Bath |
Step Four: Bake rapidly for that smokey flavor!
SIG's Defense Program Manager, Robert Hirt (seen above), demonstrated for all of us the testing program the new 516 undergoes. He shot a full magazine between each torture test of different manufacturer's ammo. Never a failure. I guess I could end this little piece by saying "with a SIG 516 you can have your cake and eat it too." |
REVISION Eyewear
Match Your Mission to Your Tint |
When you are considering eyewear protection, a factor many overlook is how the tint of the lens affects vision. Obviously, unless you are the Hollywood type, you won't wear dark sunglass lens at night. Revision helps you to make the right choice by understanding the light conditions you will be in. One more detail Revision considers in producing the highest quality ballistic eyewear protection on the market.
Each lens tint is designed to maximize visibility, minimize interference and optimize performance. Revision lens coatings are chemically engineered to be anti-fog, anti-scratch, anti-static and chemical resistant.

A Crash Course in Practical Tomahawk Tactics | |

The tomahawk is a devastating close-combat weapon that has enjoyed a significant resurgence of interest in recent years. When it comes to the tactics of using a 'hawk combatively, students can reference classical texts on the traditional use of the one-hand axe or reference modern instructional materials like those of Cold Steel's Lynn Thompson or my friend Dwight McLemore. However, if you want a down-and-dirty approach that will give you functional skills in very short order, here's a crash course in the system I teach.
The guard position for my tomahawk system is a variation of the de cuerdas position of the Filipino martial arts. As a right hander, place your left foot forward, hold the shaft of the 'hawk in your right hand, and wrap your left hand over the head of the 'hawk with the edge facing to your left. This position allows you to control the weight of the weapon with both hands and puts it in front of you where it acts as an effective means of blocking other weapons.
Against any incoming attack above your waist, pivot into the attack and thrust the 'hawk forward to block with the shaft of the weapon. Against blunt weapons, you can block the weapon itself. Against bladed weapons, you can still block with the shaft or you can aim your block so it crushes the fingers of the hand wielding the weapon. From that position, your left hand slides off the head to control the attacker's wrist while you immediately counter with downward chopping strokes, "cycling" the chops to target the collarbone, head, and arm.

It's Race Season at Sentry Solutions! |
Say "Pinewood Derby" to anyone who was ever a boy scout and watch the smile start up. The story goes that a scoutmaster organized the first Pinewood Derby race in the early 50's since his son and scout was too young to participate in a Soap Box Derby race. Using miniature wood cars made by the scouts, the cars functioned like the rideable Soap Box cars. The rest is history. Now a trademark of the Boy Scouts of America, there are organizations around the globe that cater to Pinewood Derby aficionados young and old.
Sentry Solutions Pinewood Derby Kit |
Sentry Solutions has developed a specific kit just for Pinewood Derby cars. To build a fast pinewood derby car, you need to reduce friction. Friction is the enemy of speed. Reduce friction, increase speed. The difference in time between a well-lubricated pinewood derby car and a pinewood derby car without lubrication can be one-half second or more (this translates into several feet on the track). Some rules prohibit oil lubes. Obey the rules!
Most races restrict the use of anything except dry lubricants.
Sentry Solutions BP2000 Powder is the perfect solution for legally lubricating your pinewood derby car.
The Kit includes:
-
BP2000 Powder -
Tuf-Glide pen applicator -
1 set of latex gloves -
alcohol pads -
cloth patches -
mini swabs -
2 larger swabs
