Greetings!
Unbelievable. That's what I'd say about this year's SHOT Show held at the Sands on January 19 - 22, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ok, so the facility wasn't what we are used to in the Convention Center, but that didn't seem to stop attendance. A little bird from NSSF told me that attendance was higher this year than last and maybe ever! In spite of the fact that it felt like you had to hike miles to get to see everything, I think everybody came away with a very tired, but very positive attitude. It's always exciting to see our clients in print, but we have to tell you it's just as exciting and validating to see our company in print. If you didn't catch our mention in the SHOT Show Daily, click here. Laura Burgess Marketing would like to thank all our industry friends for stopping by to say "hi" and we wish we had more time to chat with all of you that have helped make LBM a success. Remember, if you need any of LBM's client's most recent press releases and images, log on to www.lauraburgess.com and click on "Clients", and chose your client. On the right hand side of each client's page are the press releases in PDF form and hi-res images. Here's a wrap-up of our clients' 2010 SHOT Show experience! |
Introducing KodaBow, a New Kind of Crossbow Company |
KodaBow began operations in January 2010 in Mountville, PA with an initial product platform built on solid rail crossbow designs and aerospace level machined components. The new crossbow employs a patented proprietary protected trigger group using a unique Cam Following Trigger System (CFT™) that provides high accuracy and includes dry fire protection, a 2-position safety with AR-15 style ergonomics and a user-friendly decocking lever mechanism. Other key features include military grade accessory components, a high energy storage limb design and several innovative Picatinny rail configurations. The fully machined riser and solid rail technology system (SRT™) provides noise reduction benefits and delivers an arrow speed of 340 feet/second using a revolutionary split limb recurve design.
At 6.8 lbs. mass weight, the bow design utilizes an adjustable battle rifle style stock which has been favorably tested in hunting applications. The overall bow design offers the user the convenience of performing periodic or emergency maintenance such as bowstring changes in the field. Depending on hunting style, the KodaBow platform can be easily customized to an individual hunting style with the addition of aftermarket bipods, additional fore-grip options, and different stock configurations.
Chuck Matasic, President of KodaBow said: "We previewed some of our crossbow technology at SHOT 2010 associated with TV personality Bob Walker and were really pleased to support him. We showed one of our products that will be launched this year, the Walker - Signature Edition at the Walker Sportsmen's Outdoor Strategies booth. We had some terrific conversations and feedback with attendees who were very knowledgeable about crossbow hunting and they like our KodaBow direction, product operating system and design. Dealers were interested in the Walker-SE bow and appreciated the different direction we were taking with crossbow functionality ....... and it is always exciting and a little bit crazy to be with Bob at a trade event. His enthusiasm for the Walker-SE was exceptional. Great show."

BLACKHAWK! Introduces 60 New Products |
BLACKHAWK! apparel has grown as a line in the past year and at the 2010 SHOT Show had its own booth. BLACKHAWK! added to the popular Warrior Wear Apparel line a new 1700™ Shirt, TNT OPS Tactical Pant, a Performance Cotton Tactical Pant and Lightweight Tactical Shorts. Also BLACKHAWK! added to the apparel line-up mid-layer fleece and performance outwear as an integral part of the Warrior Wear layering system. The new Warrior Wear apparel items include the Grid Fleece Series, the Thermo-Fur Jacket, the RAD Series Vests and the Fleece Liner for the popular Shell Jak Series.
Terry Naughton, VP of Marketing for BLACKHAWK! summed the show up, "SHOT normally sets the tone for the year and I thought it would be hard to top the 2009 show but, this year the attitudes, energy and enthusiasm from the dealers and distributors were even more positive than in 2009. We had more than 60 new products on display and the highlight of the show had to be tying all of the new products with the point of purchase displays we had developed to support our dealers sell through in the retail environment. The response we had received on the additions to our apparel, holster and nylon line-up was fantastic. Strap-in and grab your helmet, 2010 is going to be a great ride."

SIG SAUER Debuts a New Look at SHOT Show |
SIG SAUER debuted a new look in black and silver and an array of pistols and rifles. Max Michel, the Team Captain of the SIG SAUER Shooting Team was also on hand providing aisle clogging demos of techniques and tips to make you a better shooter. The SIG P238 continued to draw interest from dealers and media alike. New variants were introduced including the Special Edition Nitron with Rosewood Grips, the Two-tone with Blackwood Grips, the Rainbow Titanium with Redwood Grips, the Special Edition Equinox® and the Tactical Laser model.
Bud Fini, VP of Marketing for SIG SAUER commented, "The show exceeded our expectations in terms of attendance and orders placed. We continue to see strength in pistols and rimfire rifles, coupled with a strong interest in new SIG products introduced at the show."

Sentry Solutions Debuts New Look and New Packaging at SHOT Show 2010 |
Mark Mrozek, President of Sentry Solutions, reflected on this year's show, "Sentry Solutions stopped counting SHOT Shows after the first 10, but we remember many of them vividly. 2010's show will be one for the record books. Sentry's Oil-Free Gun Care Products are still unknown to many, but Sentry Solutions has always had a strong and loyal following and it seems like we saw all our oldest customers and fondest friends this year. While 2009 saw much turmoil and sales down for all but the most fortunate, Sentry Solutions was settling into new ownership and getting serious about re-launching their product line. Our progress was displayed at our crowded booth - a new look, new packaging and some simple improvements making our excellent gun and gear lubes easier to use. 2010 looks like it will be Sentry Solutions' year. Several long-term projects are soon to bear fruit and put Sentry Solutions onto many radar screens. It was 2004 when Sentry Solutions received attention by having more than 80,000 troops break DOD policy and rely on TUF-CLOTH for oil-free gun care. More than a few parents claim troops are alive today because Sentry Solutions prevented malfunctions when the military issue gun oil could not. Keep an eye on Sentry Solutions and if you have not yet tried TUF-CLOTH, what are you waiting for?"

Protective Products International Continues to Innovate in Body Armor |
In spite of the recent news of PPA and each of its four subsidiaries filing a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 reorganization and obtaining approval from the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida to sell substantially all of its assets and businesses free and clear of liens and claims, and the investigation into certain allegations against its Chief Executive Officer, R. Patrick Caldwell being brought by the US government, PPI had a good show. Their booth design continues to be the talk and their Future Soldier display demonstrated the capabilities of PPI in being a leader in protective body armor.

Members of the USA Shooting Team received a $75,000 check from Kimber Manufacturing President, Leslie Edelman, at the opening day of the 2010 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Since 2003, Kimber has supported the USA Shooting Team with contributions based on sales of the Kimber Team Match II 1911 pistol. This most recent check brings Kimber's total contribution to $750,000, the largest amount contributed to USA Shooting by any firearm manufacturer in the shooting industry. Edelman presented the check to team members pictured (L to R) Collin Wietfeldt, Corey Cogdell, Frank Thompson, Amber English, Keith Sanderson, Kim Rhode, Sean McLelland and Michael McPhail.
Buddy Duvall, Director of Marketing for USA Shooting, commented on his experience at SHOT Show:
"The SHOW is always amazing and this year was no exception. This is the one show you count on being attended by the who's who of the industry. I can't think of a better opportunity for the USA Shooting Team and our athletes to be in front of this number of industry professionals from manufacturers to dealers. The NSSF does a tremendous job of sponsoring and hosting the SHOT Show, which seems to get bigger and better each year. It's exciting to see the size and scope of the SHOT Show which speaks to the strength of our industry." |
