SAFETY FIRST IN THE POOL

Enjoying a swim in the pool is a great way to have fun and get some exercise, but safety is important, too!  Below are some guidelines to make sure your splash in the pool is a safe one:

  • Please shower before entering pool
  • Walk, do not run
  • Guidelines for children:
    • Under age 5, must be accompanied by an adult
    • Ages 6-9, swimmers must pass a swim test and be supervised by an adult in the pool area (see aquatics department for test details)
    • Children who are non-swimmers must have an adult with them in the pool
    • Non-swimmers using personal floating devices must be accompanied by an adult within arm's reach
    • Ages 10-12 must have a parent in the building
    • Age 13+  do not need a parent in the building
  • Horseplay (pushing, dunking, etc) is not allowed
  • Gum, glass containers, food or drinks, and inflatable pool devices are not allowed
  • No diving in the shallow end
  • Starting blocks are for swim lessons only
  • No back or front flips, back dives, twists, or trick dives allowed
  • Don't hang or sit on lane lines
  • Lap swimmers may use kickboards and pull-buoys
  • Do not enter pool with open wounds
  • Extended breathing exercises are not permitted

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEA!

Don't forget that Mother's Day is Sunday, May 8th. You can do something special for Mom (and yourself) by purchasing some buddy personal training sessions! It's a great way to bond and to get in shape at the same time.

One-on-one personal training and group personal training session are available, too. For that matter, why not purchase sessions for the entire family?  See the Welcome Center for details.

YMCA PRESCHOOL CENTER

At The YMCA Child Development Center we believe that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery.

This fully-accredited NAEYC center, located at Colonial Williamsburg, has a curriculum that includes sharing and conversation, stories and songs, as well as creative art and crafts activities.  Large muscle activities, cooking projects and exposure to shapes, numbers, colors and letters are also offered.

Teachers use learning centers in play-based curriculum to offer challenging activities in all developmental areas.  PDF
