SPEND FAMILY TIME TOGETHER AT THE Y

Research shows that most people break their New Year's resolutions by February 17, which is quite unfortunate considering one of the top five resolutions made is spending more time together as a family.  When families do things together, like preparing meals or playing a game, they learn from each other and their relationships become stronger.

"The Y is dedicated to helping children and families become more healthy, connected and secure," said Julie Greene, Senior Director of Programming. "As the new year begins to fly by, we're encouraging everyone to focus on their family relationships both at home and at the Y."

The Y focuses on the idea that children live better lives when their families are strong, and families are strong when they live in communities that connect them to economic opportunities, social networks and services. Every day, the R.F. Wilkinson Family YMCA works with York County and James City County schools and community leaders to create lasting personal change in the lives of families in the Williamsburg community.

The Y offers a variety programs for families to learn, grow and spend time together, including family Zumba every Friday night, open family swim time, and monthly family fun nights.

Families are also encouraged to stick with their 2011 goals by planning special dinners, game nights, family projects or designating some uninterrupted time together each week. Other simple tips for family time are available through the YMCA's Healthy Family Home, www.healthyfamilyhome.org.

Journey to a Life of Significance;

Freedom with Low Self-Esteem

In this process, we will learn new principals to live by, which means we will be less than perfect at times. Self-worth is yours to develop. No one can rob you of this achievement but you.

    February 24 - April 14, 2011:

Thursdays from 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm

Location TBD

Did you know that the RFW YMCA has a pre-school in Colonial Williamsburg.  We offer a hands-on, safe environment where children learn to explore and think independently.
