FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Last month we introduced you to some exciting changes happening here at the Y. We told you about our three areas of focus: For Youth Development, For Healthy Living and For Social Responsibility. Because you are an important part of our organization, we want to share with you the meaning behind each of the focus areas.

Behind "For Youth Development" is our belief that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. The values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children and teens learn positive values and behaviors and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Next month: HEALTHY LIVING

GET TO KNOW OUR GREAT STAFF!
Welcome New Director:

Elizabeth Bebe joined the R. F. Wilkinson Family YMCA in early September as our new Senior Director of Membership and Wellness.

She and her family have been members of the RFW YMCA since late March when they relocated to Williamsburg from West Lafayette, Indiana.  There, Elizabeth was a Marketing Coordinator for the Lafayette Family YMCA where she focused on membership and program promotion, board and volunteer development and the annual Strong Kids Campaign.  She secured more than $30,000 in grants for the organization and helped raise nearly $200,000 in three years through special events and community involvement.

Elizabeth is married to Ben, a Navy pilot, and they have two children ages 3 and 1.  The family enjoys time together at the Y, bike rides on the VA Capital Trail, fishing and swimming.
