Greetings!
As most of you know, in June we hired Linda Edwards to be our Project Manager; her three-month position will help us complete our Membership and Member Loan drives. As a result, you may have seen a significant increase in Terre Foods visibility in the media, but this is only part of the plan. Over the next month and a half, we will be doing our final press to reach our goals. This email is the kickoff of that final press. Please watch your email for more important announcements over the coming month!
Below you will find a template letter about Terre Foods. We are asking that you use this letter to send to your own contact list as part of our Membership Drive. As member-owners, we all believe in this store--we want it to open here, and we want it now. Tell your friends about the vision, let them know that they can help make it happen. Most importantly, let them know that you are already a member!
Over the weekend, we had an incredible public response at our Downtown Farmer's Market table. Lots of people were coming up asking for more information and for how to become a member. And what I heard over and over from these new visitors is that they had a friend who told them about the co-op. Your word carries weight with your friends--let them know that this is a worthwhile project, and how important it is to get involved now.
We are aiming at 600 members; this will be enough to finish the Member Loan drive, as well as satisfying the requirements of the banks. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to spread the word, so please use the template below--modified in any way you'd like, or as is--to introduce the co-op to your friends. This is an easy, but very, very important, way to help get the doors open on our store. And it'll be fun to see how many of your friends send this email to you!

Terre Foods Cooperative
Market is close to reality. The momentum
toward creating a food co-op in Terre Haute that will serve the Wabash Valley
is building. We are
currently in a membership drive; we need 240 additional members. Our goal is to have 600 members. Terre Foods Cooperative Market began with a group of community members who
wanted to have healthy, nutritious, affordable organic food available for their
families. Terre Foods Co-op offers
an opportunity to any person from the Wabash Valley community to become a
member-owner. Membership in the Terre Foods Co-op only costs $200.00 per family, and
there are lots of payment plans available to make membership available to
everyone! You only join once! Really! That's it! Joining is simple--just go to www.terrefoods.org and JOIN TODAY! If we are going to reap the rewards of having our own food co-op we will
need your assistance. BECOME A MEMBER
TODAY!!! Terre Foods Cooperative
Market will offer healthier choices close to home, promote local, sustainable
agriculture and support local producers. The co-op is committed to buying
locally. Terre Foods Co-op has already
created partnerships with local organic farmers who will provide honey, meat,
dairy, vegetable, fruits and much, much more. Terre Foods will promote
healthier lifestyles through nutritional education and operate as a model of
environmental stewardship. The store will present
advantages traditional grocery stores normally do not offer: bulk foods,
specialty food items, healthful foods, nutrition education, locally grown
foods, and member-owner input. Terre Foods Co-op will be a one stop market
where everyone is welcome every day - member or not! The BASIC PRINCIPLE! The
co-op belongs to the community! Terre
Foods belongs to the members, members own the co-op! Profits from Terre Foods will stay in the
community. With your help we will
make Terre Foods a reality, JOIN TODAY! Just go to www.terrefoods.organd click
on "Membership" at the top to learn more!
