Greetings!

Our new project manager Linda Edwards has been hard at work creating plans for our Membership and Member Loan Drives.  Watch your inbox for important upcoming events and let's get the doors open on our store already!  Don't forget to tell your friends that you're a member--they may be seeing a lot of us in the local media!

There's a lot packed into this newsletter!  Coming up we will be having our final cooking class of the season on September 11--a Yeasted Breads class hosted by Candace Minster and Susie Lannoo.  We're looking for a member to represent Terre Foods in the Altrusa Chili Cookoff.  Our annual meeting is right around the corner, which means we will have Board Elections soon!  Read on for details on this and more!

Board Elections
We're looking for a few good Member-owners!

We will have TWO vacant seats this year to fill--thank you to Colin Pizarek and Tammy Tintjer for their two years of service!  Terre Foods will be hosting Board Elections through the month of October.  This is a great time to run for the Board, and have a strong voice in the direction the co-op is taking.  As you might imagine, a lot of important decisions will be made over the next year as we complete our Membership and Member Loan drives and begin work on our store.  Now's the best time to make sure you get the co-op that YOU want, by joining the Board!

No expertise is required--just a love of good food, strong community, friendship, and a desire to make our city the best place to live in the Midwest!  Contact Robyn Morton at robyn@terrefoods.org for more information.

2nd Annual Blueberry Festival a Success!

Were you worried about how the Blueberry Festival went, given the terrible weather we had?  So were we, but the tallies are in, the books are settled, and it was a clear success!  The Blueberry Festival cleared all expenses and netted just under $1,000 in profit, which will be split 2/3 to Terre Foods and 1/3 to Downtown Terre Haute.  While the weather did prevent the festival from doubling in size this year as we had  hoped, the festival grossed more revenue this year than last even despite the weather.  And the media coverage we had was phenomenal!  It was a definite win for us, and we look forward to doing it again next year!

How good is YOUR CHILI?
Is your chili World Famous?  Do all of your friends beg for the recipe any time you make it?  Would you take out Bobby Flay in a Chili Throwdown?  It's time to prove it!

Terre Foods is looking for an intrepid member to represent our co-op in the annual Altrusa Chili Cookoff!  Let's show our city who has the best cooks, and of course, the best local ingredients!  Terre Foods will cover the expenses for food for our chosen chili chef, as long as the recipe uses as much local foods as possible!  We can help you source whatever ingredients you need--tomatoes, peppers, chili powder, onions, meats, you name it!  So come on--show us your chili, and make your hometown co-op proud!
