Greetings!

We have lots of great news in this issue, including our upcoming events (like the Blueberry Festival!), our current membership totals, and new ways to become a member-owner.  Please read on for the news, and visit our table at the Downtown Farmer's Market for the latest!
100 Members!

Well, 102, actually.  In a few short weeks, we've gone from 66 members to over 100, and that is huge!  Membership is crucial for this project to become a success.  We have a goal of 500 members by the opening of the store to show community support for this effort.  It is tempting to wait until the store is finished before becoming a member, but please realize that without a solid membership, there will be no store.  We need your membership now in order to keep moving forward.  If you've already become a member-owner, THANK YOU!  Your support is vital for the success of our project!

New ONLINE Memberships!
Now becoming a member-owner is easier than ever.  Our wonderful web-guru at NewTech Web Services has developed an online membership portal that works via Paypal.  Nothing to print out, nothing to mail in!  Payment options are available through the online service--we want everyone who wants to become a member to be able to do so!  So visit our Membership Page today!

Introducing CARROT!
Potato, Celery Root & Leek Soup
Carrot is the latest addition to the Terre Foods Team.  He will reside on the main page of the Terre Foods Website and keep you updated on our membership progress.  Check back with Carrot frequently to see where we are in our membership totals, and don't forget to spread the word!  We need all the members we can get!

And watch for Carrot's cousin, coming soon to the Member Loan page!
The Blueberry Festival is almost here!

Terre Foods, Downtown Terre Haute, and the Central Presbyterian Church will be hosting the city's first Blueberry Festival on Thursday, July 16th, from 11am-7pm, at the Central Presbyterian Church on 7th Street and Larry Bird Ave.  This festival will highlight the fresh flavor of our local Indiana Berries, served over delicious Swiss Connection Ice Cream!  Free music and children's activites!  Check out our baked goods fundraiser, and enter the blueberry pie eating contest!  Free admission--come on out and enjoy the festival, while supporting your co-op and your downtown area!  This is planned to be a Low-Waste event--everything will be compostable!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

If anyone would like to volunteer for a 2-hour shift at the Blueberry Festival, contact Tammy Tintjer at tammy@terrefoods.org!
CALL FOR BAKE SALE ITEMS
Terre Foods Blueberry Festival Fundraiser

To all you fabulous bakers out there, now is the time to whip up your favorite baked good for the Blueberry Fest in Downtown Terre Haute July 16 from 11am-7pm. Blueberry goodies are great, but your favorite baked item is most welcomed, too.  All proceeds go to Terre Foods Cooperative Market and Downtown Terre Haute.  We will be repackaging items to sell individually before the Festival, so you do not need to portion anything.  Just bake and deliver by Wednesday to:

Central Presbyterian Church
7th & Larry Bird Ave. (enter via Larry Bird Ave. door)
8am-4pm

Please call me with any questions.

Thank you and happy baking!

FREE Film Series Continues

The Terre Foods FREE Film Series continues this month with a showing of the film King Corn, Saturday, July 18, at 7pm, in ISU's Performing Arts Center on 7th & Chestnut.  From The Boston Globe:

Curt Ellis and Ian Cheney, two recent college grads from Boston, decide to plant and farm an acre of corn in Iowa. For a year they watch their crop grow, only to discover at the end that it's unfit for human consumption. What ensues is an enormously entertaining moral, socio-economic odyssey (and statistical bonanza) through the American food industry. Ellis, Cheney, and Aaron Woolf's documentary is clear-minded and fair, but just damningly descriptive enough to leave you distrustful of everything on your plate. -- W.M.
Thank you for your continued support.  We look forward to seeing you at the Blueberry Festival!

In Cooperation,

Robyn Morton
