We are looking for testimonials to use in various promotions, including a new web design coming soon.  If you believe in the Mission of Terre Foods, and you can't wait for the new co-op to finally open, tell us about it!  Send your testimonial to info@terrefoods.org, with the subject line "testimonials".  If you can include a photo, so much the better!

Greetings!
This update has three big news items:  a Community Meeting, a PARTY, and taking orders for yard signs to promote our Membership Drive.  Check out what we've got planned, and mark your calendars for our upcoming events!

Community and Membership Meeting, October 7th, 7pm at the Vigo County Main Library

"Buy Fresh, Buy Local" iconOur first Community Meeting was a huge success, and we are looking forward to packing the room again!  We all have a lot to talk about as our co-op gets closer and closer to becoming a reality.  At this meeting, we will bring everyone up to speed on how far we've come, and where we have to go.  We will discuss details of our new Membership-equity packages, and how becoming a member-owner is crucial to the successful start of our store.  There will be members of the Steering and Membership Committees available to answer questions and to take new memberships.  We are looking forward to a lively discussion with the attendants--we want to find out all we can about your dreams and visions for the store.  Also, we will have copies of our new bylaws, and we will introduce the first Board of Directors.  In the future, this Board will be elected by the membership.  However, as we were required to have a Board before we had a membership (as part of the incorporation process), this was not possible for the first slate.  Even so, we want to make sure all members and prospective members are familiar with who we are, why we're on the Board, and how we will work for you to make our store a success.

So come out on October 7th, which should be a much warmer night than our first Community Meeting (minus 4F windchill!).  We will have refreshments, and we'll be announcing a contest for everyone to participate in!

Time to PARTY!
Potluck Picnic, Fairbanks Park, Oct. 18th, Noon-4pm

Community and Membership meetings are an important part of how a cooperative runs, and provide valuable information for both the leaders and the membership.  Cooperatives are also a way to come together as a community and have some fun!  Come out to Fairbanks Park on October 18th for our first Co-op Picnic--to hang out, have fun, and meet your fellow Co-op participants!

The picnic will be potluck--bring a favorite dish to share, and see if you can find ways of emphasizing our wonderful local foods!  Bring a copy of the recipe itself, and we will include your recipe in our new store cookbook.  We will even have skilled photographers on hand to take pictures of your finished dish for inclusion in the book.  So show off your love of local foods with everyone, and come have some fun!

Sign-up to order a Lawn Sign

small full color logoThe Membership Committee has plans to order lawn signs as part of our Membership Drive.  Lawn signs have been used very successfully by other cooperatives during their Membership Drives, and it's also just a fun idea!  The signs will have our logo, with the text "I'm a Member--Are you?"  on it.

We want to make sure there is enough interest in having lawn signs before we order, so we are taking pre-orders to help us determine how many to get.  If you would like a sign, please send an email to info@terrefoods.org with "sign order" in the subject line, and include how many signs you would like.  We are requesting a $5 contribution per sign to help offset the cost of printing the signs.  These will be a great way to spread the word and show your support for your store!

Thank you for your continued support.  Don't forget to mark your calendar for the Community Meeting and Co-op Potluck.  We'll see you there!

In Cooperation,
