Margot Badran is a Senior Fellow, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim Christian Understanding, Georgetown University. Her experience and expertise is in Women, gender, and feminism in Islam and Muslim societies; human rights; democracy.
Previously, she served as Fulbright New Century Scholar, 2004-05, Edith Kreeger Wolf Distinguished Visiting Professor, Department of Religion, Northwestern University, 2003-04, Preceptor, Institute for the Study of Islam in Africa, 2002-04, and Fellow, Institute for the Study of Islam in the Modern World, 2002-03

Project Summary: As Muslim women and men now with increasing urgency are demanding equality and justice within the framework of their religion and culture, my project examines ways Islamic feminism promotes these goals within the context of drives for enhanced enjoyment of human rights and the practice of democracy. |
