Happy Thanksgiving and Eid Mubarak from CSID
|
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Today, we celebrate the Day of Thanksgiving with our friends, families, and all Americans. On this joyous occasion, we send you our greetings and many thanks for your support and friendship for the past ten years. As we gather over a delicious family dinner and count our blessings, let us also remember those of us who are less fortunate, and pray that the Almighty God will bless them too and help us to build a more peaceful, prosperous, and dignified world for all.
Tomorrow, Muslims all over the world will celebrate the Eid ul-Idhaa to honor and remember the devotion of Prophet Abraham when he was ordered by God to sacrifice his son; God saved the son and replaced him, at the last minute, with a lamb. As we gather to eat lamb with our families and friends, let us not forget to give 1/3 of it to those who are in need. Imagine the effects of each one of us giving 5% or 10% of whatever he or she owns to help those less fortunate and build a better society and a more just world.
On these two joyous holidays, let us be thankful for our many bounties and renew our commitment to help others in the spirit of brotherhood, generosity, sharing, and giving thanks. Let us also renew our commitment to promote and strengthen freedom and democracy all over the world (especially the Arab and Muslim worlds) as the best way to fight poverty, corruption, oppression, and injustice.
Sincerely,
Radwan A. Masmoudi
