Purposeful News
October 2008 |
Greetings!
Time has flown by since the last newsletter. I've spoken at eight events, one of which was a women's retreat where I presented some fresh new material. Just this past week, I was even interviewed as a guest on a Christian TV show. If you are interested, you can see the show's details in my sidebar. In short, I've been stepping out of my comfort zone a bit lately.
A new year with new challenges is fast approaching. What new things are on your horizon for 2008-2009? What old habits do you need to discard and what new ones do you need to create to add efficiency and satisfaction to your life?
This month's issue will share some foundational principles for efficiency in your work or home life. Developing them today will pave the way for success tomorrow.
Warmly,
Janna

The Art of Efficiency
"This constant, unproductive preoccupation with all the things we have to do is the single largest consumer of time and energy." - Kerry Gleeson
Even the most outwardly neat individuals may still have cluttered minds. That's because most people haven't mastered how to consistently capture all of the incomplete items in their lives and plan how to handle them. How consistently organized are your thoughts? What system do you have for managing all you do?
In his book, "Getting Things Done", personal productivity guru David Allen stresses that "only when our minds are clear and our thoughts are organized can we achieve effective results and unleash our creative potential." Clear minds allow us to focus completely on the task at hand and execute it with the utmost efficiency.
David Allen teaches the following core process for mastering workflow in any context, home or office:
- Collect the "stuff" that represents your "to do's"
- Process what you collect
- Organize results of processing
- Review results as options "to do"
- Do
When completely integrated, this process will alleviate stress because everything will be in its place, even our thoughts.
Homework: Throughout your day, be aware of how many times you think of something you need to do but still haven't done. How many times did you have that same thought in your day? How much energy is this costing you? What can you do about it?
NEXT ISSUE... Collecting the "stuff". |
Who Needs Coaching?
Everyone can benefit from a coaching relationship because we all need encouragement, accountability, an objective viewpoint and a sounding board from time to time.
Coaching provides a safe environment, enabling us to step outside of our comfort zone in generating and implementing ideas that we have never tried before. We all need that nudge from time to time in all areas of our lives to become all that we are created to be. A coach will provide that nudge.
Would you like to:
Get more out of life?
Overcome obstacles?
Find clarity in your life's purpose?
Obtain true life balance?
Realize your full potential?
Increase your productivity?
Take advantage of your strengths?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, coaching is for you. You are ready to "Go for it!" What are you waiting for?
