# 7 March 2009
Greetings!

The new flying season is just around the corner so now is the time to make sure your charts are up to date and to think about updating your GPS database or your navigation software. It is also never a bad idea to take a quick refresher lesson to brush off the winter cobwebs.

Garmin GPSMAP 695

The supply situation of the Garmin GPSMAP 695 has now improved and this great new GPS is now available from stock..

The GPSMAP 695 is an all new, tablet-style device with a large, 7-inch portrait screen. The high-resolution, sunlight readable screen uses Garmin's latest technology to ensure that pilots will be able to read the vibrant display day or night. The bezel that frames the bright screen has multiple keys on the bottom and right sides. The soft keys at the bottom of the display control the most commonly used features of the current page, such as turning the patented "Panel" display on/off. The dedicated keys on the display's right side have specific functions such as nearest, direct to, flight plan, zoom in/out and menu. Also on the display's right side is a rotary knob/joystick, similar to the G1000's joystick, that lets pilots enter airport identifiers, pan the map, or scroll to page and sub-page groups.

A Good Landing.........

Good landingis one you can walk away from. The latest offering from Dutch pilot and cartoonist Martin Leeuwis is ideal light relief for the festive season. It will fit perfectly in your Christmas stocking or sit under the Christmas tree - and in these difficult financial times it won't break the bank either.

More chart news
2009 editions of the 1:500,000 ICAO charts are starting to appear. We have the German charts in stock and expect the French charts within the next 2 weeks.

The very popular (and low priced) DFS charts of Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark are also slated for release within the next 2 months. There is no definate publication date for the ICAO chart The Low Countries but this is expected within the next month.

Jeppesen have announced that there will be no new editions of the VFR/GPS Glider charts. We do though have stock of the DFS glider charts for Germany.
Airspace changes in The Netherlands
With effect from 12th March there will be major changes to the airspace in The Netherlands. The current SRZs to the North and South of Schiphol will be replaced by an extension to the CTR covering the same area - don't get caught out. At the same time Soesterberg CTR and TMA will be withdrawn as will be EHR-10. Valkenburg CTR also goes but the ATZ remains.
Be safe up there.
