Question: "What do Mormons Believe?"
Answer: Mormonism has become a hot topic of discussion. A prominent scholarly view is that Mormonism is a form of Christianity, but is distinct enough from traditional Christianity so as to form a new religious tradition, much as Christianity is more than just a sect of Judaism.... They believe:
Jesus is the literal spirit-brother of Lucifer, a creation. (Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15).
Baptism for the dead. (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. II, p. 141). This is a practice of baptizing each other in place of non-Mormons who are now dead. Their belief is that in the afterlife, the "newly baptized" person will be able to enter into a higher level of Mormon heaven.
