           Afternoon Blossoms, photo by Debra Ives
We have quite a few fruit trees on our property, and they have been absolutely loaded down with blossoms this spring.  The image above is an apple blossom just outside our back door... taken in the late afternoon when the sun is hitting the wall of evergreens in the background.

Sadly, those beautiful blossoms only last for a few days, then their job is done.  But then the next step of nature's grand plan takes over... and so for the last few days, as we step outside, we get the joy of watching a shower of petals float down to the ground.  Lovely, yes, but if all those blossoms bear fruit this fall, we are going to be very busy canning and freezing!

And speaking of bearing fruit... some of our recent efforts to maximize our signal and coverage have begun to pay off...   If you've been to our website in the past week, you'll have noticed that we are now able to provide a "streaming audio" feed for anyone who has high speed internet and speakers on their computer.

This is an enhancement to our service that we are very happy to finally be able to provide.  Not only does it allow us to provide radio service to area's of Caledon where our signal currently doesn't reach, but our listeners who work outside of Caledon can now tune in via the internet and check traffic or weather conditions before heading for home.

This service is also great for Caledon residents who winter or vacation out of the area, but want to keep up-to-date with happenings back at home.  If you want to check out our "streaming audio" feed, visit www.radiocaledon.com  and look for the "click here to listen live!" button!

 In other signal enhancement news, we are currently awaiting the CRTC ruling on our recent application to change 102.7FM from a information station to that of a re-broadcaster of 105.5FM.  We hope we'll have an answer by end of July, and will let you know as soon as we hear something.
Its a VERY GOOD Thing!
Radio Caledon is proud to introduce a new radio program that is designed to build awareness of local community organizations and the great work that they do.

Carol's partner in "crime" for the show will be Inglewood resident Kari McKenna, who will bring a much needed "west Caledon" perspective to the show.

Hello Caledon!
by Dave Eccleston (The "Stone" from the Rock and the Stone Sport Show")

March 22nd seem's like years ago and The Rock and the Stone Sports Show has now passed our 10th show !

Whether you're a faithful fan or just tuning in to listen for the first time, I have to admit, we've felt pretty good about 9 ½ of those shows... understandably, our first show started out a little rocky but we finished it off strong!
Dave Eccleston (The "Stone") and Frankie Rocca (The "Rock") on location at the Bolton Braves Season Opener
Throughout our first weeks on the air, we've run the gamut!

We've had live guests, studio audiences, live remotes, famous promo's and even done the show from another city via telephone.  Though we make no claims to being "radio professionals" both Frankie and I have now had a good mix of live and telephone guests and we are feeling pretty good about our early accomplishments.

In case you've missed some of our shows, here's a brief run-down... guests have included:
  •  a group of Minor Hockey kids from 6 season ending championship teams;
  • Bill Spence, President from Caledon Ball Hockey;
  • Kevin Purcell, Director and Golf Pro at Caledon Country Club;
  • Mark Dickie from the Ontario Minor Hockey Association;
  • John Cooke, President Bolton Braves Baseball Association;
  • Steven Francella from the OHL Kingston Frontenac's;
  • Mike Harwell, from 570 NEWS in Kitchener and the voice of the Kitchener Rangers on Rogers TV

and even...

  • a special promo from actor Christopher Murney who played "Hanarhan" in the movie SLAPSHOT ! !

I would say in a ten show span, we've been pretty effective and you can't really ask for too much more than from a couple of rookie's ! !

Having said that though, we are always looking for fun and exciting things to do on the show, and are always trying to find ways to maximize the community aspect of our show, so we are  constantly expanding our horizon's.  Please feel free to send us your comments, questions or show idea's.  We look forward to everyone's opinion so don't be shy ! !

We hope you will listen in weekly from 10-11am every Saturday morning on the Rock & Stone Sports Show on the 'B' 105.5 FM ! !
The "B" Boys of Thursday Nights!

Terry Indellicato, Dj. Dave Hall,  & Filipe Leite make up the "B" Boys.
The B Boys

After graduating from Robert F. Hall CSS in 2005 the three have continued a strong friendship through their post-secondary education.  They are hoping to utilize their time on the air to give a voice (and suitable musical accompaniment) to the teenage population of Caledon.  Their show - (which debuted on May 22nd) will air Thursday nights from 8 to 9, after which The "B" Boys move to Main Street Station where DJ Dave entertains the masses.

Filipe Leite was born in a lush green rain forest in Brazil on November , 1 1986. His family migrated to Canada (Swimming in a V formation) when he was 10-years-old.  After the very long trip the Leite family decided to settle down in the Village of Bolton, Ontario.  After 9 years in Bolton, Filipe's parents moved back to Brazil so he decided to back pack Central America and his home country. After three months travelling through Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama Filipe spent 5 months living in Rio de Janeiro surfing and working as an extra in Brazilian soap operas. Filipe is a third year Broadcast Journalism student at Ryerson University who loves horses, the ocean, playing his bongo and cheese.

Terry Indellicato was born and raised on the "West-side" of Bolton, Ontario.  Born on December 17th, 1987, Terry will be entering his fourth year at Ryerson University, where he specializes in Broadcast Journalism.  At Ryerson, he is a member of the Varsity Men's Soccer team where he has played for three years.  Within the community, Terry has been involved with the Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club for several years, not only as a player, but as a coach and media contact as well.  Currently, he captains the U-21 Provincial Men's team, and serves as a Mentor Coach for the clubs youth.  Aside from soccer, Terry was a member of the Caledon Hawks A and AA program throughout high school, where he captured a Silverstick and two O.M.H.A. championships.  He also has links to the Caledon Cougars Basketball Association where he has helped write articles and is a camp instructor for the yearly summer camps.  When he is not on the field, court, or ice, you can usually find him on the dance floor, tearing up a few tiles.

Dave Hall was born August 23rd, 1987 and lived the majority of his life in the heart of the South Hill Bolton, Ontario. During his younger years, Dave was always fascinated by the arts. Whether it be fine art, drama or music, art has always played a huge role in his life. Dave has been spinning/DJing/scratching since he was 12 years old and has gone from changing CD's during an elementary school birthday party to spinning records at clubs and bars in major club districts. Dave recently attended Fanshawe college where was enrolled in general arts and science, and planned to enlist in the radio broadcasting program. In September Dave is the Fanshawe College campus DJ in London. He also spins downtown London at local bars and clubs to entertain the cities over population of university/college students. When Dave isn't scratching it up on the turntables, he loves knitting, collecting stamps and drinking Pomegranate juice.

You can catch the B Boys live every Thursday from 8-9 p.m. on 105.5 FM, at  http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=14210367450  or by emailing info@radiocaledon.com  !                                                           Peace!

So there you have it - the latest update from Radio Caledon!  We want to take a moment to welcome the many new advertisers who have joined the Radio Caledon family this spring.   We look forward to working with you!

And one final thought:  If you have a radio related topic or a question for Radio Caledon, drop us a quick email and we'll see if we can squeeze it into an upcoming issue.

Shelly Sargent
