Spa Girl
Dear Spa Girl,
My wonderful boyfriend bought me a beautiful set of make up brushes for Christmas and I want to keep them clean. What is the best way to clean them?

Dear No Longer Brushless,
Make-up brushes are delicate items. Quality brushes, like the ones we sell at the Garden Gate Day Spa and Salon, are made from animal hairs (animals are not harmed in this process) and need special care in cleaning. To clean them, wash them gently in warm not hot water with a small amount of detergent solution, this will help to cut the grease. Avoid dipping the metal and handle in water, they will deteriorate faster if wet. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and air dry with bristles down.

Spa Displays Art
The Garden Gate Day Spa is pleased to announce that it now has a beautifully lit wall space for local artists to display their works. This month features Bernadette Baca's silver and gold sculptured branches and leaves. These organic pieces can be used as wall decorations or combined to make stunning table arrangements. Reflective light off these pieces truly makes them dance on the walls and in any room. Pieces are for sale and can be custom ordered through Bernadette Baca at 864-6989. If you are a local artist and want to display your work, please contact Suzette at 865-8813

The "Greening" of the Center
We are continuing our effort at the Center to bring more sustainable products and systems to all the elements at the Center. We are now pleased to announce:
- 50% of all of our paper products that we use are biodegradable and/or are made from recyclable materials.
- Our recycling program of biodegradable materials is now 50% implemented.
- Our raised garden beds are being manufactured from recycled tin cans from the kitchen and recycled material from past construction.
- We are discontinuing the use of plastic water bottles from the Spa. Water is available by glass (biodegradable) only and we will be selling sports bottles that you can fill and refill with our fresh well water.
- We are collecting plastic and aluminum throughout the Center and are taking it to the recycling facility.
