2010 Harrell F. Beck Lecture Series
with Harvey Cox Coming to Grips with the Bible The 2010 Beck Lecture Series kicked of Monday, September 20th at Andover Newton Theological School. The first lecture, "Moses, the Exodus and Archaeology", was a hit! Bringing in nearly 200 participants! If you missed this lecture don't fret, we will be posting all recordings of this lecture series to our website.
Last week, lecture two, "Jeremiah, Job and the Biblical View of Suffering" was well received by a warm and welcoming crowd at First Congregational Church in Stockbridge, MA, deep in the Berkshires.
Don't forget to continue following the lecture series to its next location in Weston, MA. "Jesus in Jerusalem: The Gospels and the New Research" takes us into our third lecture. Plan to stay after the lecture for a discussion and book signing with Harvey Cox. You may purchase copies of Harvey Cox books at the lecture or bring your copy from home for Dr. Cox to sign!

Bible Grants Spotlight
This months Bible Grant Spotlight takes us to Ludlow, MA and the Hampden County Sheriff's Department & Correctional Center. MassBible has a long history donating Bibles and other religious materials to Hampden County and numerous other correctional facilities across Massachusetts. Our most recent donation included 42 English and 40 Spanish language Bibles.

Fr. Haight is a nationally known lecturer and author in theology and spirituality. He currently a Scholar-In-Residence at Union Theological Seminary in NYC. He has also taught at four Jesuit graduate schools of theology in Manila, Chicago, Toronto, and in Cambridge, MA. He has been a visiting professor in Lima, Nairobi, Paris, and in the Indian city of Prune. Fr. Haight is also a past President of the Catholic Theological Society of America. |
