 Bible Grants in Uganda

MassBible's Nathan Currie Presents Bibles to the young pregnant woman of Wakisa Ministries, Kampala, Uganda.
Bible Grants in Uganda

Wakisa Ministries was born out of Mrs. Vivian Kityo's vision and passion for young women with unplanned pregnancies (due to forced sex) in Uganda. The primary focus is the physical, emotional, social and spiritual health of the girls, young mothers and their babies. One of the strategies to deliver care was the establishment of a crisis pregnancy center within Kampala. Volunteers at Wakisa Minisries teach the young women literacy; cooking; basket weaving; bead making; Bible studies; AIDS awareness.

The weekly Bible devotion group at Wikisa has not had enough Bibles for years.  With the donation of twenty five English Bibles to Wakisa Ministries from the Massachusetts Bible Society's Bible Grants Program, each of the young women at Wakisa can participate in the Bible devotion group together.

MassBible's own Nathan Currie (MBS Office Manger) recently volunteered at Wakisa Ministries as part of a recent study abroad experience with Simmons School of Social Work.  Massbible's connection to Wakisa Ministries is a special one and is just one of the many ways your contribution is making a difference within Massachusetts and beyond.

MeetUp Group: Have You Ever Just Read It?

Many people have heard parts of the Bible. Of course you hear it in church, but it is also prevalent in music, in art, in politics, in literature, in Peanuts cartoons and even just in English phrases like, "salt of the earth" or "drop in the bucket."

This group (starting Sept. 16) is for people who want to know for themselves what is actually in the Bible and are willing to read it cover to cover across the 2010-2011 academic year. You read at home and then we come together for a couple of hours each week to talk.  Facilitated by Rev. Anne Robertson.
