Greetings!
Friends and fans have been visiting (see Craig Breedlove visit below) and we've found another couple of informal car gatherings to fill our weekends. Any day of the week the weather has been perfect to take the Coupe out. Just roll it out of the garage for a quick clean-up and drive away. We're having fun!
We've solidified the plans for our BRE Open House (details below). It's provided a great catalyst for everyone here to focus on getting things unpacked from the move and put away or displayed. And speaking of everyone here, below we introduce you to a new member of BRE, Alison Oldfield. If we could ever find a way to clone Gayle, Alison is it. She's a "car guy" with the same enthusiasm and caring attitude. You will really enjoy meeting her.

Craig Breedlove visits Henderson
Breaking the Land Speed Record will always be part of Craig's DNA
|
This last week we got a special treat when friend and renowned land speed record holder, Craig Breedlove, came to visit. Craig is in the midst of planning a new land speed record car. For six weeks Brock covered his 1997 record attempt in the Blackrock desert with his Spirit of America car which can be seen here.

Please welcome Alison to BRE!
With a cat named Quattro, we knew Alison was BRE material
|
Alison is originally from Vermont and most recently worked for a supplier to the military, shipping small stuff, big stuff, domestically, internationally, ground and express. She loves shipping! But she's also good at tracking anything down and has been a big help to BRE (and you) already. Best of all, Alison is a "car guy". Her first car was a Subaru and she taught herself to drive a stick in a Mazda Protege. She soon became hooked on Quattros however (which isn't difficult to figure out if you ever meet her cat, Quattro). She's had a few, (Quattros, not cats) including two coupes and an '86 4000.
With Alison on board we're now in a position to ship containers internationally and are looking for international distributors, especially in Australia and Europe. Interested parties should contact BRE here.

The Dramatic DeltaWing continues to impress Brock attends first test of new DeltaWing Le Mans car |
The DeltaWing, announced at Le Mans last year, immediately caught Brock's eye. "I think it's a fabulous design and with so many people commenting that they don't think it'll work (e.g. it'll tip over!) it reminds me very much of the negative comments the Daytona Coupe received when it was first being built. I think we're watching history in the making". The DeltaWing's first test did not disappoint. Photos and information from the test will be released next Tues, March 13th.

It's On, It's Off, IT'S BACK ON!
Two Track Days at Ford-Cobra Shelby American Reunion at NHRA museum 4/20-21 are back
| Via some miscommunication, the two-day Track Day event was cancelled at the Ford-Cobra-Shelby American Reunion event. Thru some quick actions however they've been reinstated. The reunion event will consist of two track days (Fri-Sat) at the Vintage Pomona Road Course and a full day (Sat) of Shelby American reunion activities at the adjoining NHRA museum. A full schedule and prices can be found here.
We'll be there in full force offering such items as SAAC Registries (if you haven't seen these in person you'll be blown away). A recent visitor to our shop exclaimed: "How much do these cost, $1000? The amount of research and data in these is amazing!" We agree that they're a bargain for $245 (includes US shipping). We'll show you them in person at Pomona or you can get yours now thru our website here.
Due to the snafu of the track day cancellation we know a lot of people changed their plans. We highly recommend attending this event. It's shaping up to be one of the best Cobra 50th Anniversary events all year with many of the original Shelby American team members in attendance. |
Heads-Up on End of Print Run
Museum poster with Brock's favorite image of a Daytona Coupe is now out of print
|
We got the call from the supplier of these beautiful posters that they only had a few left and there were no near-term (a year or two out) plans to reprint them. We grabbed all they had left (about a dozen) and regret to say that when they're gone, they're gone. We don't expect to have any left by the time the Monterey Reunion rolls around so if you were ever thinking of getting this beautiful image of the Cobra Daytona Coupes, don't wait to go here.

One of Brock's favorite philosophies
Documentary "America's Greatest Race Car" has people asking for it again
In Velocity's documentary on the Cobra Daytona Coupe, Brock relays how one of his favorite philosopher's theory on "truth" articulated the reaction Brock experienced over time to the design of the Cobra Daytona Coupe. Many, many people after seeing the documentary have asked us to repeat the philosopher and the quote. We thought we'd share what Brock said in the program, again, with you here:
"'German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer summarized the lifecycle of a new idea when he said: 'All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed; Second, it is violently opposed; and Third, it is accepted as self-evident.'"

What's Next
We're off for the Amelia Island Concours tomorrow. After the Concours Sunday we head farther south to Sebring for the first ALMS race of the season, returning to the office the 19th.
After March, comes a busy April. First, April 12th we'll be at the annual RRDC (Road Racers Drivers Club) dinner in Long Beach. This year the featured speaker is Jim Hall of Chaparral fame.
Then two days later (Sat 4/14) we attend the AHA (Association of Handcrafted Automobiles) event at the NHRA museum in Pomona (formerly known as the Knottsberry Farm event). Directly in front of the museum we'll be there with our Coupe and an Aerovault trailer and some cool memorabilia. You can get more details here.
The following weekend is the Shelby American reunion mentioned above. We hope to see you somewhere along the way but if not, Alison and crew will be here to ensure your orders and inquiries are handled just as if we were in the office.

Have a good March!
We're going to enjoy Amelia and Sebring but we're also looking forward to getting back here to finalize activities for the Open House and all the events we'll attend in the weeks immediately following. We hope to see you somewhere soon. The odds are for it!
All the best,
