Quick Poll
Previous Quick Poll:
What is a "motor unit" ?

A motor unit is a motor neuron and all the muscles it innervates. These motor units usually work in group in order to coordinate the movement of one muscle. As we age, motor units start to die off and we loose that brain to muscle connection. This accounts for our feelings of being off balance and lack of coordination. The signal isn't as direct, seeing as the motor units that are still active need to branch out to innervate more muscles.
This is why it is highly important to be involved in resistance training and to practice balance, agility drills. These will all keep the pathway from brain to muscle connection flowing. Keeping these pathways active keeps your motor units alive!

What is the Difference between a Personal Trainer and a Kinesiologist?
by Alfred Ball

During the last ten years I have always been proud of being a Kinesiologist, even though I was working under the title of "Personal Trainer." We have clients who have worked with Personal Trainers and now will only train with Kinesiologists. When you hear the term "Personal Trainer," you have an immediate image, correct? What about "Kinesiologist"? The image is probably not as clear.
