Greetings!
With all the rain
we've been getting and even more in the forecast, you'd think we
lived in the Pacific Northwest. Lucky for us, all this precipitation
means a Sonoran Desert full of greener Saguaros, spring flowers
galore, and the great scent of damp dirt! And do you know what that
makes us think of? Yes, wet dirt reminds us it's the start of
spring training and baseball season, one of our favorite times of the
year.

Take everyone out
to the ball game!
The San Francisco Giants and 14 other teams return to Scottsdale this month for the
2010 Cactus League season. New to the roster are the Cincinnati Reds!
The Valley of the Sun attracts baseball lovers from far and wide to
see their favorite teams play in ideal conditions in Arizona's
stellar spring climate. Leave a message on the business line, put a
sign on the door, and treat your staff to an afternoon of classic
baseball at Scottsdale Stadium or at any of the other 10 stadiums
around town: Tempe Diablo, Peoria Complex, Hi Corbett, and others.
Want to make a field trip out of it? Drive to the Kino Sports
Complex, home of Tucson Electric Park, just 98 miles south to
Arizona's second largest city, where our very own Arizona Diamondbacks train for the regular season. (First game of spring
training is this Thursday vs. Colorado!) Click here for more information on the Cactus League schedule.

Hosts of the San
Francisco Giants: Scottsdale Charros
Each year the
Charros and the City of Scottsdale host the San Francisco Giants
spring training games. Funds are raised through the sale of
advertising, banners, and tickets to the Charro Lodge and Pavilion.
Founded in 1961, the
Scottsdale Charros, a special activity organization of the Scottsdale
Chamber of Commerce, consists of 40 active members and over 150 life
members dedicated to "serving the community through the promotion
and support of education, youth programs, and economic development
that preserves the past while looking to the future."
Among the most
notable accomplishments of the Scottsdale Charros is their dedication
and support of excellence in education. For over 40 years, the
Charros have provided their time and financial support to athletic
programs, parent teacher organizations and the faculty of each school
in the Scottsdale Unified School District. Recognizing the importance
that education plays in the community's future, the Charros
annually award two Scottsdale high school seniors who are pursuing a
degree in education full scholarships to in-state universities. Three
cheers for the Charros!
