REALTOR® Emeritus Status
Let us know if you have been a REALTOR since 1972 or earlier!
 Any person who has held membership in the National Association as a REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, or a combination of both, for a cumulative period of 40 years in one or more Associations of REALTORS® is eligible for REALTOR® Emeritus status.
Upon approval by the Board of Directors of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, no further payment of dues is necessary to the National Association by the Member Association of which the REALTOR® Emeritus is a member.

N.J. Bill Would Allow Towns to Buy Foreclosed Houses
Lawmakers have sent to Gov. Chris Christie a bill that would allow New Jersey towns to buy foreclosed homes and turn them into affordable housing, the Associated Press reported. More...
NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Alert: Bill Payment Scam Targets PSE&G Customers
Public Service Electric and Gas Co. (PSE&G) is alerting its customers about a nationwide phony bill payment program that promises to credit or pay utility bills in exchange for personal information, including victims' social security numbers.
The scam has been reported in a number of states. The scammers are using phone calls, texts, emails, and social media to reach consumers with the false claim that the President of the United States is helping consumers pay their utility bills.
Here is a description of the scam:
· Someone calls a utility customer and tells them the Federal government has a program to pay utility bills on a one-time basis.
· Customers are asked to provide their social security numbers in order to apply for the program.
· The scammers then give customers a phone federal reserve bank routing number to receive the payment.
Any consumer who receives a phone call, text message, email, or social networking message that resembles this scam, and anyone who has fallen victim to this scam, is urged to call the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs at 1-800-242-5846 (toll free within New Jersey ) or 973-504-6200
NJAR® REALTOR® Build Day - NEW DATE CONFIRMED
Come join NJAR® in a REALTOR® Build sponsored by NJARHOF and Atlantic County Habitat for Humanity. The home is being built in Galloway, Atlantic County and we want you, REALTORS®, to join us and help complete this Habitat house! The projects being planned for Wednesday, July 18th include building a shed, painting and yard work. Building will start at 8:00am. Congress Extends Flood Insurance for Five Years
On June 29, 2012, both the U.S. Senate and House passed the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 as a part of H.R. 4348, the Surface Transportation Conference Report. The President will sign the measure in a few days. This is the culmination of a successful multi-year REALTOR® campaign.
Passage of this 5-year reauthorization will bring certainty to real estate transactions in more than 21,000 communities nationwide where flood insurance is required for a mortgage. The bill ensures the program will continue long-term for more than 5.6 million business- and homeowners who rely on it, achieves one of NAR's top priorities for the year, and means taxpayers will spend less on federal assistance for flood disasters over the long run.
