REALTOR Emeritus Status
Let us know if you have been a REALTOR since 1972 or earlier!
 Any person who has held membership in the National Association as a REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, or a combination of both, for a cumulative period of 40 years in one or more Associations of REALTORS® is eligible for REALTOR® Emeritus status.
Upon approval by the Board of Directors of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, no further payment of dues is necessary to the National Association by the Member Association of which the REALTOR® Emeritus is a member.

Home prices coming down to earth in Bergen County, could signal turnaround
With typical prices below $400,000, and mortgage rates south of 4 percent, homes in Bergen County in 2011 reached their most affordable levels in years - just about at the point where a majority of households can afford the typically priced home, an analysis by The Record has found. Congress Extends Flood Insurance for Five Years
On June 29, 2012, both the U.S. Senate and House passed the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 as a part of H.R. 4348, the Surface Transportation Conference Report. The President will sign the measure in a few days. This is the culmination of a successful multi-year REALTOR® campaign.
Passage of this 5-year reauthorization will bring certainty to real estate transactions in more than 21,000 communities nationwide where flood insurance is required for a mortgage. The bill ensures the program will continue long-term for more than 5.6 million business- and homeowners who rely on it, achieves one of NAR's top priorities for the year, and means taxpayers will spend less on federal assistance for flood disasters over the long run. Craigstlist Scam
We're hearing about an increase in the number of real estate scams posted on Craigslist. While there is no way to stop the postings, you can be alerted if one of them is your property by setting up Google alerts. One suggestion we've seen is to set up multiple alerts for the same property: (1) Property address (2) MLS # (3) property address with ML #.
Google alerts can be setup by going to www.google.com/alerts.
