These are just a few of the recent headlines and news stories we have seen over the last couple of months. It is important to realize that for every one sexual assault that is reported there are nine that are not reported. This is further evidence that sexual assault is epidemic in our society. It is estimated that every 2 minutes an individual in the United States is sexually assaulted.
You can help. Your year-end contribution can make a difference. Your support will allow MESA to continue to operate Boulder County's only rape crisis hotline. It is available in English and Spanish, 24 hours a day, 7days a week. Your support will allow MESA to continue the critical prevention education programs to help reduce the occurence of sexual assault. MESA reaches over 4000 individuals each year and 75% of them are students.

| 2009 brings Change to MESA!
After a decade of dedicated service to MESA, Janine D'Anniballe will be stepping down as Executive Director and moving into a new position at the Mental Health Center of Boulder and Broomfield County as the Director of Access, Emergency, and Community Services. In this new role, she will supervise several teams at the Center - including MESA.
The staff is very sad to see her leave but happy for her as she makes this exciting move forward. She has lead the team with dedication, talent and perseverance. The organization has been able to serve the community with expertise because of her stewardship. She will be missed.

Volunteer Opportunity -
24 Hour Rape Crisis Hotline
 Counselors (women and men) serve on the hotline and may accompany survivors to the hospital and police interviews. Training is 40 hours of intensive education on the psychological, medical and legal implications of sexual assault, as well as all forms of oppression and how they are interconnected.
Crisis intervention and counseling skills are developed through discussion, role-plays and feedback.

Mondays 5:30-8:30 pm (February 9, 23; March 2, 16)
Wednesdays 5:30-8:30 pm (Feb 11, 18; March 4, 11, 18)
Thursday 6:00-8:00 pm (March 5)
Saturdays 10:00 am -4:00 pm (Feb 21, 28, March 14)
