to provide training ride to help raise critical funds.

Boulder, Colorado (October 13, 2008)

Toyota United's Professional Cyclist Chris Baldwin and Successful Living's Chuck Coyle will be providing a Boulder based training ride to the winner of the upcoming Moving to End Sexual Assault's annual raffle.  Baldwin and Coyle will be joined by Excel Sport owner and Master cyclist, Bruce Hodgkins.   The cycling package will also provide a training session with Peak to Peak Training led by Jon Heidemann; a year's subsciprtion to Velo News and a gift certificate to Excel Sports.

The proceeds from the raffle will benefit Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA), the Boulder County Rape Crisis Team.  The winner of the raffle will be drawn at MESA's annual Brave Bold & Beautiful.   Brave Bold & Beautiful will be held on Friday, October 24th in an airplane hangar at the Boulder Municipal Airport.  The event will honor Katie Hnida.

Katie Hnida made history by becoming the first female kicker to score in Division 1 college football, and again when she came forward with explosive allegations that she was raped by a fellow player at the University of Colorado and sexually harassed by other teammates. This is when the story truly began. Katie was physically and emotionally devastated. She left the university and began climbing her way back to who she was and what she wanted. She learns to speak about what happened to her and to push through harrowing flashbacks of the violence. The very thing that drew her into the darkest days of her life ultimately saved her: football. She sent 80 kicking tapes to 80 Division I schools and was invited to visit several top football programs. But it was the blue-collar, no-nonsense team that won her trust: the University of New Mexico Lobos. Her teammates were teammates, supporting and encouraging her to reach her goal. Katie is now playing for the Colorado Cobras - a semi-pro football team based in Colorado.

About Moving to End Sexual Assault

MESA was formed in 1972 in response to the abduction, rape and shooting of two young girls.  The organization was originally called Humans Against Rape and Molestation (HARM) and then Boulder County Rape Crisis Team.  In 2001, the agency's name was changed to Moving to End Sexual Assault in order to better reflect the organization's mission - "We are moving to end sexual assault and the suffering it causes in our community.  Every person has the right to live free of sexual assault.  We challenge all forms of oppression and recognize their connection to sexual violence."  MESA staff and volunteers work to achieve the mission statement by providing treatment for sexual assault and by providing prevention education. Moving to End Sexual Assault is a team of the Mental Health Center Serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties, Inc., a private, non-profit organization.
