Project Spotlight
Project Manager Ashley Hansen Talks About a Recent Home Flooring Design Project

$ grahpicHow long did this project take?

The flooring for the house took approximately seven months. We began with the heated bathroom floors and tiled floors on all three levels. Next our craftsman installed six custom showers. Each shower included hand pouring the unique shower pans, waterproofing  and installing the tile based upon the drawings. We then followed with the custom walnut hardwood. Our wood installer handscraped 3500 square feet by hand, installed the floor, sanded it down and then applied the stain and coating. He also handscraped custom walnut wood treads for two sets of stairways. At the same time our Sports Floor division in Indianapolis installed the custom basketball floor in the lower level. Finally the carpet was installed on all three levels. The backsplash was the final project that completed the house.

What was the process, working with the homeowner?
The client met with me in the JLHFD showroom to start the selection process. We looked at everything from tile and natural stone to wood and carpet. After meeting with the Designer and Client  several times we narrowed down the selections. I then put together multiple proposals for each area. Once the design was agreed on we proceeded with the work.

What is your favorite part about the house?
The architecture, stonework and hardwood floors are my favorite parts of the house; it's incredibly beautiful.

What challenge were you able to overcome and how?
This was the largest project I've ever worked on. The most challenging part was managing so many people and making sure everything was accomplished each day. I was able to accomplish this with great installers, a great builder and my daily to-do list by my side. I couldn't have asked for a better team!

What was the feedback you received
from the homeowners after the process
was completed?

The clients love their house and are thrilled with the flooring and service we provided. I am so happy they are moved in and able to enjoy what we all worked so hard to accomplish.
