articleKeep Your Teeth and Gums Healthy With Effective These Effective Tips
As we all know, our teeth need daily care, proper teeth care products, regular cleaning and checkups by our dentist. Even though every persons' teeth have a different color, white teeth are generally thought to be healthy and clean. Contrary to popular belief, brushing twice a day and flossing are not always enough to maintain a healthy set of teeth and care free gums. Here are healthy tips that will help you obtaining high level of care for your teeth and gums.

Tooth Care

As a children we have all been taught to take proper care of our teeth. As adults, we reap the benefits of the way we cared for our teeth and gums when we were young. Adults often forget the basic rules of tooth care and more often than not we like to think that just brushing our teeth twice a day, with some kind of tooth care product will suffice.

Unfortunately this is not the case. With our daily diet of soft drinks, foods packed with sugar combined with poor tooth and dental care, it is not surprising that nowadays more adults that ever aged over 45 needs to have teeth extracted.

What is Gum Disease?
Gum disease such as gingivitis or periodontitis (as it is also called) is the main cause of tooth loss nowadays. The disease attacks teeth and the gums, and destroy the gums in which the tooth placed and eventually the tooth will become loose and fall out. This process can take months to years. Good teeth and dental care are of utmost importance for people suffering from gingivitis.

Symptoms of Gum Disease
  • Swollen Gums
Gum swelling is a common thing and most of the time it goes unnoticed. The gums can swell significantly, and in extreme cases the top of the tooth will be exposed more than usual. This swelling might occur as a symptom of a gum disease and may also occur around the time when women have their period.
  • Receding Gums

Adults aged over 40 moght experience the receding of the gums to a point where the root surface of the tooth is exposed, caused by wear and tear on the teeth and tooth brushing. Receding gums are most often painless.

Causes of Gum Disease

People suffering from diabetes and smokers are more prone to experience these problems than others. It goes without saying that teeth and dental care should be a priority for this group of people, more so than for non-smokers for example. The only way to care free gums is keeping a healthy and hygienic daily dental care routine.

Along with other obvious health problems, smoking causes extensive damage to your teeth. Cease using tobacco products and within a few weeks your teeth will look brighter, whiter and healthier, provided that you will brush regularly with suitable tooth care products and twice a year dental check-up.
