Liturgical Minister Training for Spring 2009

Manresa Retreat Team Applications - One More Week!
Manresa 14 TeamAll former Manresa retreatants are eligible to apply to serve on the Manresa 15 Retreat Team.  Team meetings are held on Wednesday evenings from 8:30-10:00pm and the retreat will be April 15-17th.  Contact Paula Fitzgerald  for more information or click HERE to download the application form.  Applications and interviews must be completed by next Monday, February 2nd.

Interested in learning about IMMIGRATION?
07-08 Resident MinistersJCU is organizing a delegation to attend a two-day learning experience exploring immigration through the lens of human dignity and personal experience being sponsored by the Ignatian Solidarity Network.  This year the conference will take place in Washington, D.C. from March 13-15.  The event will challenge participant to grapple with the following questions:
 
· Why do families travel thousands of miles to move to the United States?
· What is their journey like?
· What is the experience of immigrant families?
· What legislative strategies or advocacy efforts can improve the quality of life for immigrant families living in the United States?
· How can the Ignatian family accompany the immigrant community?

Simple Living Pilot Program
Live simply Are you interested in creating a living environment based upon the core values of a "simple living" lifestyle?    We're looking for a few more courageous individuals to be a part of this pilot program. This community will emphasize a spirituality and culture designed to be in solidarity with the poor.
 
Who is eligible?  John Carroll juniors, seniors, 5th year undergraduate students and graduate students for the 2009-10 academic year.

Where will these folks live?  This community would be housed in a John Carroll-owned house (a duplex, or multiple duplexes) and be subject to residence life rules and regulations.

"During World War II bombing raids, children in refugee camps, distraught by loss and fearful of the future, were given bread to hold during the night.  The bread gave them a sense of peace and hope for tomorrow.  That image and the phrase "Sleeping with Bread" is the title of a lovely little gem of a book on the Ignatian Examen prayer...."
