8-Day Silent Retreat INFO SESSIONS begin this week!
IHSThis silent, individually directed retreat will be held January 4-11, 2009 and is open to ALL students, faculty, staff and administrators; preparation program required. The retreat is based on The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. All interested participants MUST attend an information session.  Sessions will be held during the next two weeks - for a complete schedule of the sessions or more information click

Feast of All Souls - Mass of Remembrance
 Jesus HandsSunday, November 2nd is the Feast of All Souls.  We remember on this day all who have died in Christ.  At our 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm Masses we will remember in a special way our loved ones who have died. If you would like to have someone you love remembered by name at the time of the petitions, please forward that name to Gail Roussey.  Please indicate which mass you will be attending.

RCIA Open Classes
 Chapel 10:00 pmThree of our fall RCIA Classes (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) will be open to all interested students.  The first one is "A Walk Through the Mass" on Sunday, November 2nd at 8:00 pm in St. Francis Chapel.  Fr. Francis Ryan, SJ will be the presenter.  Come and learn more about the sacrament which is the "source and summit" of our Catholic life.

Learn about local, state, and federal candidates - Diocese of Cleveland Social Action CANDIDATE SURVEY
Click here to view the Diocesan Social Action Office and the Sisters of Charity Health System have collaborated on a survey of candidates for the Ohio General Assembly and U.S. House of Representatives from the eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland. The candidates were asked their position on issues that we believe are important in this November election and for the years to come. The results of the survey are being published as an informational aid to voters in preparation for the November 4, 2008 General Election.
Novena for Election
Faithful Citizenship Logo Starting Monday, October 27th we will be praying a Novena for the Election at all of our Masses, (nine days of prayer) using the prayers from the Faithful Citizenship Novena from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and a Novena Prayer taken from Living God's Justice -  reflections and prayers; Cincinnati, Ohio:  St. Anthony Messenger Press, 2006. 

Copies will be available in all the Chapels on campus.

Evening Prayer - Tuesdays and Thursdays
Evening PrayerThere are two opportunities available to participate in Evening Prayer.  Tuesdays, at 6:30 pm, at St. Francis Chapel the Byzantine Church is hosting Evening prayer (compline) in the tradition of the Eastern Rite of the Catholic Church.  On Thursdays at 7:00 pm Gesu church is offering Evening Prayer in the Marian Chapel. All are welcome.

St. Francis Chapel's October Mass collections will benefit the CLEVELAND CATHOLIC WORKER.
 
The Cleveland Catholic Worker is a community rooted in the teachings of the founder of the Catolic Worker movement, Dorothy Day.  The Cleveland community offers fellowship assistance to the poorest of the poor of our community at their Lorain Road storefront center.   
 
Last week's collection was $519.04. In September, we collected a total of $906.84 for JCU's Giving Tree Project to benefit the Fatima Family Center.
