ADVENT 2007 - "Praying for Peace"

World Peace Advent 2007

The First Sunday of Advent is December 2, 2007, the Feast of Remembrance for the Four Churchwomen who were martyred in El Salvador. December 2 marks the 27th anniversary of the martyrdom of four U.S. churchwomen, killed in El Salvador by graduates of the then-known School of the Americas ( SOA). Lay missioner Jean Donovan, and Catholic Sisters Maura Clarke, Ita Ford and Dorothy Kazel were murdered in the countryside of El Salvador in December 1980, sought out because of their prophetic stance and commitment to The Churchwomen of El Salvador - Killed on December 2, 1980

accompanying the poor in El Salvador, and challenging the economic and political systems that continued to oppress and victimize the people of El Salvador.

We begin this Feast of the Church with a desire for an end to violence. Campus Ministry would like to pass on the suggestion of Pax Christi that we find a time every day (perhaps at noon) to pray for peace and to reflect on how we can add our voice and actions to create a more peaceful world. "The Giving Tree"

Help make the season brighter for children of the Fatima Family Center.

1. Locate a Giving Tree: Atrium (outside Chapel) & Admin. Building (outside of Einstein Bros.). 2. Select an ornament & purchase the gift noted on the back. (Snowmen, Bells & Trees are smaller gifts; Stars are intended for groups or departments.). 3. Return unwrapped gifts to St. Francis Chapel or to the Campus Ministry Office by December 13^th.

Mass will be followed by the Midnight Feast in Schott Dining Hall at midnight.

The festivities for the night also include a concert in Kulas at 7:30 pm, a Christmas reading on the Quad of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss, caroling with Rhapsody Blue and the Tree Lighting by Fr. Niehoff before Mass.

It's that time of year again!

Time to sign up for the March for Life in January!

Applications are now available: after all masses, with your resident minister, or in the Atrium after Thanksgiving.

The group will travel to Washington, DC on Monday, January 21st, participate in the March on Tuesday, January 22nd, and drive back in time for classes on Wednesday, January 23rd!
