| Join RCIA participants to learn more about the Catholic faith |
RCIA is a process for students who want to learn more about the Catholic faith and/or receive one or more of the sacraments of initiation (baptism, confirmation, First Eucharistic). Our classes are held at 8:00 pm on Sundays, generally in the Campus Ministry Conference Room (formerly the President's Dining Room).
Next Sunday, November 4th, Fr. Francis Ryan will present "A Walk Through the Mass" and we will meet in the chapel. All are welcome. The Following Sunday, November 11th at the 6:00 pm Mass we will officially welcome those students who have decided to proceed with their discernment about receiving a sacrament of initiation in the Roman Catholic Church. Our class that night will be taught by Fr. Tom Schubeck and will concern the Church's teaching about social justice. |

| Mass to Remember the Jesuit Martyrs of Central America |
Mass to Remember the Jesuit Martyrs of Central America Thursday, November 15th
5:05 PM
St. Francis Chapel
On November 16, 1989 the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador and their two companions were dragged out of their home and violently killed. The men worked as professors and administrators at the University of Central America (UCA) and were assassinated for speaking out on behalf of the economically poor, the most vulnerable in society. Thousands of El Salvadoran people died along with them throughout the 10 year civil war that plagued the country.
Following the mass will be a brief commissioning service for those students traveling to Columbus, Georgia to protest the U.S. Army institute formerly known as the "U.S. Army School of the Americas".
Each year a group of John Carroll University students, faculty, and staff travel to Columbus, GA to represent JCU at the Ignatian Family Teach-In and protest calling for the close of the School of the Americas. To learn more about the groups trip click here. |
| InterVarsity Fall Conference - "In Sight: Found in the Crowd" |
| "Have you ever felt alone in a crowd? Lost in a sea of faces?
Jesus has come to seek and save what was lost. He knows you. He has chosen you. Come join us as we take a look at what it means to be found by Jesus at InterVarsity's annual fall conference.
This year it's entitled, 'In*Sight: Found in the Crowd.' InterVarsity chapters from all over Ohio will be meeting together in Marengo, Ohio, November 9-11 2007. We'll be taking a look at the gospel of Luke through intense Bible studies and through speaker Vikki Rubens, a staffmember from Oregon. The cost of the conference is $98 if you register before October 25th.
If you would like more information, please email Stephanie Macek at steph.macek@gmail.com or call her at ext. 4176. Feel free to take a look at the Facebook event called 'InterVarsity Ohio Fall Conference' or the promotional video by clicking here. We hope to see you there!" | |
