WELCOME!
We hope your first week of classes went well!

As we mentioned last week, we are introducing the "E-Bulletin" to replace our weekly paper bulletin in St. Francis Chapel.  The "E-Bulletin" will be sent out once week and has lots of exciting information for all students.

If you do not want to receive the "E-Bulletin" feel free to un-subscribe using the link at the bottom of this e-mail.

We hope to see you at the "Celebrate the Spirit" Mass and Picnic on Thursday, September 6th!

Peace,

JCU will be hosting a 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk to benefit the Fatima Family Center (E. 66th & Hough in Cleveland).

"Footprints for Fatima"
will take place this Monday, September 3rd (LABOR DAY).

You can still register on Monday at the race (cost is $20).  Registration starts at 7:30 AM in front of Campion and Hamlin Halls.  If you can't run or walk - just come out and cheer the runners on!

Check out photos from the Streak Week Service Project!
Streak Week Service Project 2007On August 23rd (Move-in Day) approximately 140 first year students - joined by current students and FSA's - volunteered to help give the Thea Bowman Center a makeover.  The group painted, cleaned, and landscaped for the entire day at the social service center that provides services and assistance to hundreds of people young and old in the Cleveland's Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.   Click here to see some pictures from the day.
Attention Non-Catholic Students
World religious symbolsAttention all non-Catholic students:  Something New is happening at JCU.  We now have a cooperative relationship with several non-Catholic campus ministry organizations.

If you are a non-Catholic Christian student, you will definitely want to check our InterVarsity Christian Fellowship organization.  Located in Bohannon, Room 218, Stephanie Macek is here for you.  She is dividing her time between Case Western and JCU.  You can reach her at 412-760-6425 or email: steph.macek@gmail.com.  Visit IVCF's website!

Attention Eastern Orthodox students.  A chapter of Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is being started on campus.  If you are interested please call or email Mira, the Program Coordinator, at 440-888-6213, or, mira1@bigfoot.com.

If you are a Jewish student, and you're interested in being involved with Hillel, please contact Ricky Marcus, the Jewish Student Life Coordinator of the Cleveland Hillel Foundation.  He can be reached at 216-231-0040 or erichits@yahoo.com.  Visit the Hillel website!

Christian Life Community Sign-Ups begin on Sunday, September 9th
Celtic CrossChristian Life Communities (CLCs) are small faith communities. CLCs are grounded in spirituality, community, and service. Groups consist of 6-10 people who gather weekly for prayer, reflection, and support.  Groups usually meet for one hour a week, commonly in residence halls or somewhere else on campus.  They seek to integrate their faith with the realities of everyday life.  You do not need to be Catholic to be a member of a CLC.

We welcome students to begin signing-up after the 6 PM and 10 PM masses on Sunday, September 9th.  Questions?  - Contact Carrie Pollick at cpollick@jcu.edu or click here to learn more.
Interested in the Catholic tradition?
The Catholic Church has established a process, known as Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA),  for all those wishing to explore whether they are called to receive the sacraments in the Roman Catholic faith tradition.  This process is called RCIA.  If you would like to know more about the Catholic faith, or if you are wondering about whether you would like to receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation or First Eucharist, then RCIA is for you!  We will begin our sessions of inquiry On Sunday, September 30th at 8:00 PM.  Call or e-mail Gail Roussey at Ext. 4766 or groussey@jcu.edu with questions.
