ONLINE Tour Bus Reflections, Photos & Frank Schaeffer Videos
November 29, 2011
|
Greetings!
Faith House is not just in Manhattan. This was the main thing that jumped out as we reviewed the results of the survey we sent out this past summer. It exists in the hearts, minds, and imaginations of people all over the United States and the world. Faith House has an online, global community of dreamers, believers, supporters, and creators.
This newsletter is for you. If you attended any programs this fall or not, here's a chance to experience Faith House online. Below you'll find reflections from our first three Tour Bus stops (the one by Nate Herpich made me cry on first reading), links to many photos from our events (including by professional photographer Sean McGinn), plus videos from our Living Room with Frank Schaeffer (housed on our brand new YouTube channel!).
Even our Board is not just in Manhattan. This fall, Bill Ashlock, who skypes into our meetings from Singapore, was voted the Board's first Vice President. Interested in joining the Board? Email Samir
One of our goals for 2012 is to experiment with experiential interfaith programs online. Got ideas? We'd love to hear them! Email Frank .

First 3 Stops: Reflections by Hosts & Guests
The Bhakti Center Welcomes Faith House as Tour Bus Begins by Chris Fici
The gathering was made more unique by the fact that it was one of the first times we were hosting guests in our beautiful new temple space, which had just been blessed and inaugurated the prior weekend. The gorgeous new hand-carved wooden altar from India, along with the natural mud-and-clay designs of the temple walls created a unique atmosphere, a veritable oasis of the simple yet profound devotion of Indian village life in the middle of Manhattan. Disappear into God: Lutheran at a Sufi Zikr by Nate Herpich
In this long hall marked by stark white brick walls, green banners decorated with gold Arabic letters, and an austere, but majestic, wooden mihrab, I felt transported into a space where I could be sheltered from the world outside. Here, for several hours and for the first time in quite awhile, I believed myself able to listen deeply. Read full post
Challah Communion: Romemu Shabbat Reflection by Frank Fredericks
I began to take in the music, which was different than any Shabbat service I've been to. As an evangelical Christian, that's not many. First, I noticed that there were instruments playing to support the singing; a cajón, piano, and a Spanish-style guitar. Read full post
