Announcement
Welcome Frank Fredericks NEW Community Development Administrator
Frank Fredericks is one of the most recognizable youth leaders in the global interfaith movement.
After graduating from New York University's Music Business program, Frank worked in the music industry, managing artists such as Lady Gaga, producing recordings, booking, and founding an independent record label.
While doing independent research in Egypt on Christian-Muslim relations, he became inspired to found World Faith, an interfaith community service organization. After developing an action-based model in New York, he traveled to conflict-prone regions finding passionate young people to replicate the model, in places like Lebanon, India, Egypt, and Sudan. As the Executive Director, Frank has led World Faith from a small initiative into a global organization with over 300 volunteers in nine countries, represented and spoke about World Faith at the United Nations, and given countless interviews around the world, including for Good Morning America.
Frank also co-founded Religious Freedom USA, an initiative designed to counter religious prejudice in media and governance, which mobilized over a thousand people in the Liberty Walk to support of Park51's protested Muslim community center in lower Manhattan. Frank played a critical role in assisting in the press strategy for Cordoba Initiative when their proposed Muslim Community center was protested and labeled the "Ground Zero Mosque." As a social media guru, he has gained his clients tens of thousands of Twitter followers and Facebook fans, as well as built websites and blogs that have generated hundreds of thousands of hits.
Frank is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post's Religion section, and has contributed to the Washington Post. Frank frequently speaks at conferences and has been interviewed on Good Morning America, NPR, New York Magazine, and international media outlets.
Frank has served as a Fellow, Fellow Mentor, and Interfaith Trainer for the Interfaith Youth Core, is a 2011 Youth Action Net Fellow, and an Interfaith Coach for Tony Blair Faith Foundation's Faith Acts Fellows.

Next Living Room Can the Word "Christianity" be Saved from the Christians?
October 12, 2011 6 pm Doors, 7 pm Program
Intersections, 274 5th Ave Btwn 29th and 30th Sts
With Frank Schaeffer
RSVP today (requested, but not required) Come hear the story of Frank Schaeffer's personal journey from growing up in the beating heart of the Religious Right as the son of Francis and Edith Schaeffer, to becoming a convert in the Greek Orthodox church 25 years ago, a father, and a grandfather. Frank will share how he has made sense of Christianity over the years and how he has come to find grounding in religious practices, more than ideas, and ritual as the context for life's most treasured shared experiences. This evening will include time for discussion with Frank about the varieties of "Christianity", as well as readings from his new book "Sex, mom and God" and the chance to have a small experience of Greek Orthodox prayer and practices. Frank Schaeffer is a New York Times best selling author. His books include Crazy for God: How I Grew Up as One of the Elect, Helped Found the Religious Right, and Lived to Take All (or Almost All) of It Back and Sex, Mom, and God: How the Bible's Strange Take on Sex Led to Crazy Politics-and How I Learned to Love Women (and Jesus) Anyway. Schaeffer is a good memoirist, smart and often laugh-out-loud funny. For those of us not raised in religious homes, he is like a visitor from another planet who marvels at things that we take for granted - like letting children form their own opinions... Frank seems to have been born irreverent, but his memoirs have a serious purpose, and that is to expose the insanity and the corruption of what has become a powerful and frightening force in American politics. Founder's Note Samir's Endorsement of Frank Fredericks
In twenty years of teaching, writing, publishing, and community organizing, locally, nationally, and internationally, I have never met a young person with as much energy, focus, intellect, and integrity as Frank Fredericks. No, I am not exaggerating. Recklessly committed, fearlessly passionate, and stunningly capable, Frank Fredericks is a young world-changer whose time has come.
We at Faith House feel beyond fortunate to have Frankie join our team as Community Development Administrator, albeit in a part-time capacity (50 hours per month).
I have known Frank for almost four years now and every time I am exposed to his work and people who work with him, I am repeatedly surprised by the impact he has made for the causes he has been serving. He has an ability to grasp the big picture of local situations around the world and the forces that affect young people's identities and aspirations, create operable plans of action, and then take the time to painstakingly and skillfully move the causes forward. All of this is only matched by his disarming humility and infectious joy of making a difference. While many young entrepreneurs are looking for their identity, he has found it and he is in this for the long haul.
Change in the world is possible, and it will be led by people like Frank. His ability to organize and inspire in the face of opposition, inertia, and financial hardship has inspired me to continue doing my own life work. I have trained many young leaders, but this is the one I would be willing to follow. Read Samir's full endorsement on our website

| Faith House Communities Granted 501(c)3 Tax-Deductible Non-Profit Status | |
It finally happened. We got a letter from the IRS dated August 15th granting Faith House Communities our independent 501c3 tax-deductible non-profit status (after almost two years of work). This is a huge step for us forward and opens the door to many next steps.
Many thanks to Lauralea Banks, who got our EIN and NY State Articles of Incorporation in 2008; our Board members, who reviewed drafts; Faigy Abdelhak, who helped organize information; Troutman Sanders LLP, for pro-bono legal assistance; and Bowie Snodgrass, who shepherded this process to sucess.
Faith House Manhattan was started as a project of Adventist Metro Ministries, who generously enabled us to start by being our fiscal sponsor.
