Where is the Love?
February 7, 2011
Greetings!

Last night, the Black Eyed Peas took center stage at the Super Bowl and sang out their famous chorus "Father help us, Send us some guidance from above, 'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love?"

One of our favorite Faith House moments happened in October 2008, when our dervish poet friend, Ali Mansour, read a passage from these lyrics at a Living Room.  This pop song's poetry still resonates and our Living Rooms continue to bring welcome surprises!

This Wednesday, Rabbi Burt Siegel will reflect on how Interfaith Love has changed over the past forty years and what the future may hold (remember when Catholics did not marry Protestants?).  A panel of couples will answer our questions about the blessings and challenges of being in interfaith relationships.  Plus, we will have sweet treats in honor of the upcoming secular holiday of St. Valentine!

Next Saturday, Feb.12, the entire Faith House community is invited to join in the celebration of the baptism of Palliath Akbar Jacob Mathew, son of Bowie Snodgrass and George Mathew! Read below for more details, and come share this intimate familial milestone!

We invite you all to bring chocolates or other romantic treats to share after the Living Room, less than one week before the secular American holiday of Valentine's Day.

Where is the Love?

Ali Mansour
A favorite Faith House Living Room moment happened in October 2008, when Ali Mansour, a dervish and poet, read a passage from the Black Eyed Peas' "Where is the Love?"

People killin',
people dyin'
Children hurt and
you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people
got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love?
