Weekly Update
August 26, 2010
Greetings!

As summer is ending, we are beginning to write another chapter of the Faith House Manhattan story. We are opening it with two momentous events. Join us, participate, and make a difference.

Several years ago I was walking with Bill McKibben in Central Park, telling him about our dream of Faith House. He asked how he could be of assistance and I told him, "Once we have our act together in couple of years, I would like for you to make the time to come to New York and to help faith communities of this city learn to love the earth." During those interim years, GreenFaith, also an interfaith leader on environmental issues, came on board and are now partnering with us on this project as well. In addition, the largest cathedral in the United States, The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine has opened their doors to us to host this event! SUSTAIN will be an unforgettable evening not only intellectually, but also in sustenance for our inner lives.

Even more importantly, you can join Bill McKibben in this act of love (he is doing this without charging us) as one of the individual or institutional sponsors. Please follow the links in this newsletter's right-hand column to see different levels of sponsorship and exciting "perks."

The other and more urgent event coming up in the Faith House community, brought together with other partner organizations, is The Liberty Walk: Interfaith Rally for Religious Freedom. It is on Sept.12 at 3pm in lower Manhattan, organized by Religious Freedom USA and led by Faith House friends Joshua Stanton and Frankie Fredericks. For those of you who want to join the Faith House contingent at the larger walk, we will gather ahead of time and meet for lunch in the area at 1:30pm.  Please forward the links and information below for this event to your friends and stay tuned.

And last but not least, mark your calendars for our Living Room Gatherings this Fall and be ready to "experience the other." Announcements of content for each evening is coming in another newsletter very soon.

Love, love, love is everything,

Pastor Samir Selmanovic, Ph.D.
