Banquet of Love: A Ramadan Feast with the Nur Ashki
Jerrahi Sufi Community
Wed, Sept 9, 2009 Intersections, 274 5th Ave
Doors Open at 6 PM Program at 7 PM
"Called
to Divine Nearness through La ilaha Ilallah (there is no god, but
God), the aspirant fasts from the limited self and feasts on Divine
Love alone. In the noble month of Ramadan, we restrain from food, drink, and
sexual embrace during the day, and at night plunge into extended prayers.
Ramadan is a beautiful embodiment of our burning love for Allah." ~Shaykh
Nur al-Jerrahi
Each year Muslims around the world celebrate the blessed month of Ramadan
by fasting at sun-rise and feasting at sundown, by standing
in prayer long into the night, and by gathering together in each other's
homes or in spiritual sanctuaries. Ramadan is called the month of
Community and is the month in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide
for Humanity.
This year we would like to invite you to a special opportunity
to experience a Ramadan Iftar feast (fasting is optional) with the Nur
Ashki Jerrahi Sufi Community, as well as others. There will be delicious food,
prayer, Quranic readings, poetry and music. Special guest on Sitar, Dawoud www.renegadesufi.com.
Rabia is providing a vegetarian Iftar meal. Beverages, fresh fruit and desserts are most welcome!
Please RSVP so we have a sense of how many people are coming. Email info@faithhousemanhattan.org or sign up on our Facebook Event or Meetup Event online.
Please come and share in the banquet of Love!
