CORRECTION:
Please note that our first Living Room gathering is NOT on Feb 7,
but rather on Feb 14!  Sorry about filling up your email inbox.

Last week, it was snowy!, yaay!, and we had a slow start. By the end we had a big group to enjoy the ritual of longing for Sabbath together with Rabbi David Ingber and friends from Romemu community. Children lighted the woven candle (more like a torch!), we smelled cloves of desire, and poured the drink over the brim of the cup to symbolize the abundance of time with God. Everyone had an opportunity to meet new people. See you on Jan 24th, 5pm (sharp this time)!

We moved!
Our new space is at Intersections on 5th Ave between 29th and 30th street. Check out the space and the way they make a difference in the world at www.intersectionsinternational.org. Notice that starting January we continue to have weekly program but with the following modifications that will better fit our vision, budget, and needs:

1. LIVING ROOM gatherings will be every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 5:00-6:30 pm in Intersections.

2. On the 3rd week of every month we will SERVE TOGETHER, arrange for an opportunity for us to serve together in the area of fighting poverty, working for social or environmental justice, sustainability, and community service.

3. Every 1st week of every month we will have a FAITH HOUSE TOUR BUS, as we step out of our comfort zones and into a hospitable space of others and visit their services, lectures, rituals, concerts, and other events.

UPCOMING LIVING ROOM GATHERINGS
(location: Intersections, 274 Fifth Ave, between 29th and 30th)

January 24, Sat 5 pm

Mother, Prophet, Mystic:
Mary In New Testament, Holy Quran, and Beyond

Facilitator: Juliet Rabia Gentile

Please join us for a contemplative session where we will learn about and experience the various Marian traditions through the centuries and Abrahamic religions...

From pre-Christian concepts to mainline Christian notions, to Holy Quran, we will explore the re-making of Mary through the ages. The evening will coalesce with a direct experience of the Southern Italian folk tradition in honor of the Black Madonna, dark skinned, chthonic ("of the earth") images of Mary that have captured the attention of many around the world. This tradition which has a rich and varied musical and dance tradition represented here by international singer/percussionist and dancer, Alessandra Belloni who's years of research on and love for the Black Madonna pour through her inspired interpretations of work songs, devotional chants and ritual dances from Southern Italy.

February 14, Sat 5 pm

Valentine's Day Special: Interfaith Love

Three couples from three congregations (one Jewish, one Muslim, one Christian), will share with us their story of interfaith dating, marriage, and life together. Then we will be able to ask them questions and share our experiences about the struggle and blessing that come with such an adventure. We will also provide a resource for further support. Plus everyone is invited to bring some special/delicious/exquisite chocolate to share for a chocolate tasting session!
