In the past, we use FedEx Home Delivery for all of our residential deliveries as they deliver on Saturdays for no extra charge.  The drawback is that this service has a weight limit of 70 pounds.  This limit did not cause any problems until Mosti Mondiale started including an AllGrape pack with several of their 23 liter Masters Edition and Meglioli's.  The combined weight is aroudn 72 pounds.  This has forced us to use 2 boxes and significantly increased the shipping cost.

On the other hand, FedEx Ground has a weight limit of 150 pounds.  Obviously. most of you do not want a 150 pound box, but we have confirmed with FedEx that we can use standard FedEx ground to ship boxes to residences that weigh more than 70 pounds.  What this means to you is that if you order one of the 23 liter kits with an AllGrape pack, we will start shipping them in one box using FedEx Ground.  This service delivers M-F, so you will not be able to receive one of these kits on Saturday.  The good news is that your shipping cost on these kits will drop by at least $10.00 per kit.  We will start using this service for over 70 pound boxes starting October 1, 2011.

I have also added 2 boxes to the bottom of the Shopping Cart summary page that provides the total shipping weight of your order as well as the number of boxes that will be required.  Keep in mind that all carboys, glass and plastic, exceed the dimensional weight limts.  This means that even though they weigh less than 30 pounds, FedEx still treats them as if they did.  As such, the shipping weight for a carboy is 30 pounds not the actual weight of 1 pound for the plastic carboys and 10-13 pounds for the glass carboys.

Sonoma Edition from Mosti Mondiale

All pails contain 23 liters of premium fresh grapes and 4 kg. (9 pounds) of premium crushed and destemmed grapes of the same varietal.  Pails are 30 liters (7.5 US Gallons) which allow for primary fermentation in the pail.
