Spagnols has a new wine kit series, Lounge wines. They currently have three flavors, Cosmo, Mojito and Pina Colada and the kits make 3 gallons.
I don't have all of the particulars regarding these wines and I did not want to hold up the newsletter. As such, I will send a special announcement as soon as we have all of the information. |

Due to our rapid growth in the home brew market, we have decided to add more beer kits to our already large offering. These kits, made by Brewcraft, offer some very special beers not available in the other lines available to us. These kits are a little more expensive than most kits, but you will notice when you open the box, that the ingredients are very high end.
A few of the the noticible advantages of these kits is the larger quantity of special steeping grains included and more DME, instead of LME. The good news is that we have them on special this month for 10% off.

Fresh Grapes
We have updated the web site with this year's pricing for the fresh grapes from California. The source of the grapes is the same as last year and based on the feedback from the bottling party, these grapes make outstanding wines.
Just like last year, we will have a training day for making wine with fresh grapes on Saturday, August 27th. During this session that should take about 1 hour, we will discuss acid testing, adjusting the specific gravity, maloactic fermentation and oak. The class will start at 10 am on that morning. If you are planning on attending, please let us know so that we have enough materials and space for all.
We have a cut-off date of September 5th for the grapes and we expect to receive them during the last 2 weeks of October. I have requested the broker to try to find some Mouvedre and Cinsault, so I can make a Chateauneuf du-Pape style wine. If you are interested in either of these 2 varietals, please let me know.
In addition, if you purchase more that 14 lugs(500 lbs.), you will receive a 5% discount and 10% discount for over 28 lugs (1,000 lbs.). This discount will NOT be reflected online, but will be given when the credit card is charged.

Large Wine Making Equipment
Our supply of tanks, crusher/de-stemmers and presses is selling fast. These items are only available at this time of year and when they are gone, I will not be able to get anymore until next year. As such, if you need something, don't delay!
Remember, most of these items need to be freighted, so you will need to contact us for a shipping quote. Our shipping rates are extremely competitive, escpecially if you do not need lift-gate service.

We had over 60 people attend our last bottling party, which filled the store. We bottled 24 carboys in a little over 2 hours. The wines were a mix of kits, fresh juice and fresh grapes.
Based on the comments and the wines that were taken home, the big hits were the fresh grape wines and the Summer Breeze wine kits. I heard the most positive comments about the fresh grape Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Tempanillo, Barbera, Grenache Blush and our Zinfandel Port. In the Summer Breeze line, the most popular were the Raspberry Merlot and the Strawberry White Zinfandel.
We also heard a lot of good things about the Renaissance Cabernet Sauvignon, Cru Select Pinot Noir and the Cellar Craft Sterling Amarone. A note of interest, two of the Mosti Renaissance wine kits tasted were made from kits that were over 2 years old when we started them and nobody commented that the wines tasted bad or off. My hats off to Mosti for making such a shelf stable product. |
