Web Site Change!

  

As indicate in the monthly newsletter, we have decided to go back to our old site and would have it up by mid-month.  Well, today is the day!  During the change over, the web site will be unavailable for around 2 hours, but it should be fully functional by 6 pm CST today.

 

There are some differences, so please take a few minutes and read the comments below.  It will save you some time and frustration.

  1. Home page link is www.finevinwines.com.  Please bookmark this page.
  2. Passwords - You may have to change your password.  To obtain your existing password, just use the forgot password link on the log in page.  The system will email your password to the the email address on the account.  This is the same as the user name.
  3. I brought over the order history from the current database so you should have all of your online order history.  Please note that orders placed in the retail store are not reflected in the online store.  In addition, your order history by product will not display any items that we no longer stock.
  4. Please review your contact information to make sure it is current.  Any updates made over the last 6 months may not be reflected.
  5. Shipping information is now entered as you check out.  No need to worry with multiple addresses as in the current system.
  6. The new ordering system does use cookies, but not tracking cookies.  The cookies are only there for the system to keep up with your order.  The cookies do not store any sensitive information like your credit card, address or phone number.
  7. To start an order, just add the products to your shopping cart.  If you are logged in as a registered user, it will update the shopping cart appropriately.  If you are not logged in, you can do so at any time and your order will be updated with your name, address, email and phone number.  You will still need to enter the shipping address and credit card info.
  8. I am working on loading your wish list.  Give me a couple of days to complete this task.
  9. PayPal is not fully integrated.  The system will open a new web page and take you to the PayPal log in screen, but you will need to enter the amount of the order.  The total amount of the order is displayed on the Order Confirmation screen.

 

If you have items in your shopping cart, you will either need to start a new cart or give us a call.  We will NOT be moving open shopping carts.

 

I will be adding a web page that highlights the differences between the 2 ordering systems.  The big difference is that ordering the labels is back the way it was, but now you will see the label information on the order summary page and you will be able to edit the label text before checking out.

 

We will be maintaining this system internally, so if you run into any issue, please let us know.  I have tested and tested and tested the web site, but I am certain that I did miss something.

If you have any questions about our products, our service and/or wine making or home brewing, please call us. We are here to serve you and enjoying assisting you in any way we can. We have an international toll-free line so you WILL call us.   Someone is usually at the store between 9 am and 6 pm, Monday through Saturday. We always try to answer the phone when you call; however, sometimes, we are unable to answer the phone as we are on the other lines or we have customers in the store. If you get the voice mail, please leave your name, number, brief message and a best time to call. We will return your call just as soon as we can.   If you don't want to call, just send us an email. We usually answer our emails daily. Please remember, we are a resource and we are here to serve you.
