~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fresh Grapes
For those of you in the local area, we are putting together a fresh grape order for the fall. I will be getting the grapes from F. Colavita and Son out of California. They have an excellent reputation for delivering high quality grapes. We don't have an exact cut off date yet, but we expect the grapes to be delivered around mid-October. The California harvest will be late this year.
Currently, we are expecting the prices to be in the $.80 to $1.29 per pound range. Grapes will be sold by the lug which is 36 pounds. 3 lugs will make 5-6 gallons of wine. We are anticipating delivery sometime in mid-October.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Want to Try Your Hand at Fresh Grapes?
With the wine kit, the kit manufacturer has tested the pH, acidity and grape sugar and made the adjustments where necessary. The manufacturer has also selected the yeast, fining agents, oak if appropriate and a sweetening pack for wines that typically finish off-dry. When making wine from grapes, you are the manufacturer and you are responsible for all the adjustments and additions.
We have created a web page to further help you decide if working with fresh grapes is something you want to try. In addition, we will be holding a one hour seminar on August 14th at 10:00 am to talk about testing and adjusting your grapes. The seminar will be held in our shipping area and we will discuss sugar, ph and acid. If you plan to attend, please let us know so we can plan accordingly.
