We now have specialized SPARQ Training Camps just for girls!! Every Tuesday and Thursday @ Peck 5pm on the Summerland side. Every Saturday @ Palos Verdes High 10:30am. This SPARQ Training program will help girls compete safely, competitively, and will help to minimize injury. SPARQ Training increases confidence, maximizes performance, drastically reduces the probability of injuries. Girls need to be in shape. Girls can be strong and fast, they just have to train For SPARQ. Girls Train for every Sport.

Palos Verdes High Class of 2010, Arianna Erceg got her first PAC-10 win April 17th, 2011 VS. The Oregon Ducks. Arianna Trains for Results Year around. Nobody Trains Harder !!! Go Cal Bears !!!

Standing in at 6-0, freshman pitcher Arianna Erceg is easily the tallest Bear on the Cal team. With her vertical reach, the team has taken to calling her a giraffe and even suggested the Toys R Us theme song be her walk-up song.

Stevie Wonder's Inspiration:
It's left before right for hurler Arianna Erceg. When getting dressed for games and practice, the Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., native always has to put her left cleat on before her right. With practices like that, she could have served as the inspiration for Stevie Wonder's famous song "Superstition."

Why I Have My Number:
"The reason why I am number 7 is because it was the number given to me on my first all-star team when I was eight-years-old. I have only been that number ever since."

My Walk-Up Songs Are:
"`Ooh Aah My Life Be Like' by Grits and whenever I hear this song, it puts me in a good mood and reminds me to have fun no matter what I'm doing. `Remember the Name' by Fort Minor. The beat of this song really pumps me up and the lyrics remind me to be proud of what I'm doing and for whom I'm playing.



 

A picture is worth a thousand words. I went to a pre-season college softball tournament @ Cal State Fullerton and watched Arianna pitch. I was so proud of her , it was almost unbelievable. Last year she is at Palos Verdes High and this year at Cal in the Pac-10.

Not only is she in the Pac-10, she was Awesome in 2011 as a freshmen, winning 5 games. She worked her self into 21 games and did her job. I watched her pitch on ESPN in the College Softball World Series vs. Kentucky, my whole family was jumping for joy!!! Cal finished 5th in the nation. One week later, Arianna is home training for Results !!!! She is focused on getting better for 2012. She is so humble and I absolutely love her attitude about training. Arianna Trains year-around for Results !!!

Drew Plays flag football, Basketball and Baseball. Drew is very serious about training. Holy Trinity has a history of good flag football teams and good quarterbacks for the past ten years under the direction of Vince DiLeva, Drew could be next, if he continues to train and develop as a QB. He is a very good, young athlete. Zack likes working with Drew, because he always gives 100% on ever drill. Zack was impressed while working with Drew "He has great footwork for his age and is fast and strong and only getting stronger" He is a fierce competitor, What I Like most about Drew, he plays to win !!! Two of the area's best high school QB's played at Holy Trinity. Kenny Potter Jr. (senior)should lead the South Bay as top QB in the area and Daniel DiRocco (soph) could be next in line at Palos Verdes High. Great Job Vince  !!!

NUTRITION

The Ten Rules For Results !!!
1. Get your motor started,
Eat Healthy Breakfast, everyday.
2. Slow down, too much food, too fast is not good. Don't over eat.
3. Fuel up before training, a high quality training session starts with the right fuel. A Pre-work meal, works !!!
4. Refuel after training, long term recovery is good healthy nutrition.
Lean protein is key.
5. Go Wild, eat natural, fresh food.
Fresh fruits, Fresh salads and Fresh fish. Never frozen !!!
6. Water your body, our bodies are 70% water, Hyperhydrate before exercise. Drink water often throughout the day. Drink water before, after and during sports and fitness activities.
7. Never skip meals. It takes two days to recover from missing just one meal. Plan your meals or you will eat nothing or anything !!!
8. Limit your Sugar, Salt and Fats.
Stay away from fast, processed, and frozen foods. They tend to be high in all three.
9. Follow the 90/10 Rule, eat the right foods 90% of the time. The other 10% allow yourself to sample foods you enjoy. Just don't get out of control.
10. Remember that supplements are just supplements !!!Food first, a lot of people want a magic pill to change their bodies or enhance their performance. Sorry, folks that's not how it works. Good Healthy Nutrition works best !!!

WATER

HYDRATION IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE. NO ONE CAN TRAIN OR COMPETE AT A HIGH LEVEL WITHOUT PROPER HYDRATION. WATER IS THE MOST COMMONLY OVERLOOKED NUTRIENT AND IS CRUCIAL TO MAXIMIZING ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE. ADEQUATE WATER CONSUMPTION BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER TRAINING IS CRITICAL IN PREVENTING DEHYDRATION. THE PRIMARY ROLE OF WATER FOR THE ATHLETE IS IN MAINTAINING NORMAL BODY TEMP AND PREVENT OVERHEATING. AS LITTLE AS 2% OF BODY WEIGHT LOSS AS SWEAT CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT PERFORMANCE. DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS OR HOT DAYS ,IT IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER TRAINING. COOL WATER ALWAYS WORKS BEST. STAY AWAY FROM COMMERCIAL DRINKS, BECAUSE THEY ARE HIGH IN SUGAR. SUGAR HURTS YOUR PERFORMANCE. 
 
 
FIVE HELPFUL TIPS TO HYPERHYDRATE AND STAY HYDRATED.
 
  1. EAT A HIGH COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATE DIET, LEAN PROTEIN LOW IN FAT AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. 
  2. DRINK WATER 2 HOURS BEFORE TRAINING (1-2 CUPS DEPENDING UPON BODY WEIGHT).
  3. DRINK WATER EVERY 15 MINS. DURING TRAINING
  4. KEEP WATER COOLER THAN AIR TEMPERATURE & CLOSE AT HAND ( A WATER BOTTLE WORKS GREAT).
  5. AFTER EXERCISE REPLENISH YOUR BODY WITH 1 CUPS OF WATER FOR EACH POUND OF BODY WEIGHT

Palos Verdes Seaking  BIG TOMMY O'HERN

Palos Verdes High Tommy O'Hern is on his way to Washington University to play football and get a great undergraduate degree in business. I have been so lucky to train the O'Herns both Tommy and younger brother Augie, for the last 6 years. The O'Herns are great PV family. Both Dad Tom and Mom Lori are very active and supportive to the community and Palos Verdes High. I can't say enough about what a great job they have done with Tommy on and off the Playing field. Tommy plays both football and lacrosse. Tommy is a very smart, coachable, tuff athlete. I am so proud of his development. Tommy has always been serious about sports, and school. He is a perfect model of a student-athlete. Tommy Trains year-around for Results !!! He is Big,Fast and Strong. He was All-Bay league TE/LB, he won the Sea King scholar athlete award and comback player of the year after being injuried  almost his entire junior season. Tommy was honored as a scholar athlete by the National Football Federation and College Football Hall of Fame and was nominated for Athlete of the Year 2011 at Palos Verdes High. That's just football. He also plays lacrosse for the Bay league Co-Champion Palos Verdes Sea King. Tommy was awarded scholastic All-American in lacrosse. Like I said, Tommy is smart, he has two awesome parents that laid a solid foundation in education and Tommy out works everyone and has for a long time. Competitors fear him, his teammates love him and admire his leadership. Tommy is a great leader and destine for greatness. Tommy's high school GPA is 4.78. I don't know anyone that scored 2330 on their SAT. Except Tommy O'Hern. I have enjoy watching Tommy grow into a very mature young man. I again am so thankful and greatful to be a part of Tommy's success. I want to Thank the O'Hern's for the opportunity to train Tommy for the past 6 years.

Sam Latham NFL prospect from University of Southern Oregon Linebacker, now Strong-Free Safety. He is very humble, Athlete. He has raised the level of competition at every workout. He has been in town training, since December for an opportunity to play on Sunday's. Sam is a great football player. He's Big, Fast and Strong. Sam trains smarter and harder for Results!!! Kenny Potter Jr. Trains for Results !!!

QB Kenny Potter Jr. and  NFL prospect OG Zack Heberer, two of San Pedro's finest.

Kenny Potter Jr.  San Pedro's Quarterback made the All-Nike SPARQ Combine Team 2011. He is one of the nations best athletes,with a SPARQ Rating 99. Kenny was Co-MVP of the basketball team and now is playing Volleyball, along with training for Results 6 days per week and working weekly with QB guru Ron Jenkins. Kenny was invited to compete in the ESPN RISE 2011 Elite 11 QB competition May 13th @ Stanford University and he did well. May 14th Nike SPARQ combine in Oakland, Again Kenny made the All-Nike SPARQ Combine Team. The very next day May 15th The Nike SPARQ Football Training Camp again @ Stanford, both Kenny and Michael Whit did very well. Michael and Kenny compliment each other. There were both very successful in the CYO, while attending Holy Trininty. There back together @ San Pedro High, for there senior season.

# 68 MURPHY RYAN UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS


Murphy Ryan (PVHS 2010), EX-Offensive Guard, is moving to Fullback. Murphy got a letter this week from Redlands head coach Mike Maynard, informing him of the position change. I never seen Murphy smile like that, we are both excited about the challenge. Murphy has the opportunity of a life time for any lineman. Going into his sophmore year at the University of Redlands, going from Guard to Fullback. It's every linemens dream !!!   Murphy will show up at Redlands in shape ready to compete at Fullback in August 2011. No one works harder and Smarter than Murphy!! I am very proud of Murphy in so many ways. Murphy trains for Results!!!!
Murphy can Back Squat 505lbs., Bench 335lbs., Power Clean 300lbs. and run a 4.8 forty yard dash.
